I’m Mel, and I run Get Mutty, a local dog adventure business that brings natural enrichment, confidence building, and the joy of the trail to many lives. I care deeply about dogs, land stewardship, and community. I also volunteer with shelter dogs and offer free or discounted hikes for dogs whose humans are unable to fully care for them.

🌿 Spring Services + Rates

After reflection on what I enjoy most, what I’m best at & what I want to bring more of to the community, I’ve decided to focus solely on social forest adventures for the time being.

This means we won’t be offering private services at this time. Semi-private options (alongside Jemma or Nanuq only) will continue, but they will take place on the trail as intentional, structured adventures that facilitate decompression.

To keep things simple & sustainable, there are now three adventure services to choose from. Please still reach out to chat if you are looking for private services - sometimes semi-private is the stepping stone your dog is ready for & if not, I know of some great trainers who offer private sessions.

This shift allows me to stay rooted in what matters most to me: natural enrichment, nurturing healthy pack dynamics, meaningful movement, & real connection in the forest with the dogs & the land. Here’s our current availability:

WOOFPACK EXPLORE Adventure 🌿
Group forest hike | 60+ min | $50

• 4 days /week

WOOFPACK ASCENT Adventure ⛰️
Mountain bike runs | 90–120 min | $85
• 2 spots on Wednesdays

PATHFINDER Adventure 🌱
Semi-private hike | 60 min | $85
• 1 spot /day
• 2 days /week

All new dogs begin with an Assessment Hike (60–90 min, $100). This allows me to determine pack fit, prioritize safety, & design the best possible experience for each dog.

We currently only have space for 1 assessment / week, so if you’re hoping to join us this spring, I encourage you to reach out soon. Spots will likely fill quickly, especially as mountain biking runs ramp back up.

As always, Get Mutty is committed to accessibility & our community. I offer limited sliding scale spots for families who are under resourced & struggling & I give discounted or sponsored services for foster dogs. In some cases, that means reducing services to zero cost when needed.

This season feels exciting. Focused. Intentional. I’m looking forward to welcoming a few new dogs into the pack 🌲💚

Hello everyone else! If you’re thinking your dog would like to try something new and want to know more about if we have an adventure that’s a good fit for your dog, now’s a great time to get in touch. 🌱

Welcome Luna! 🐺🌲

Our newest Luna. I’m not sure if both Lunas will end up in the same group, but how fun would that be? Double the fun energy all Lunas seem to bring!

This Luna is a 7 year old Husky/Shep mix with serious puppy energy and the happiest spirit. She joined Nanuq for her initial Assessment Hike today and it went perfectly.

She has that classic husky enthusiasm for the forest, bright eyed, appreciative, and ready for adventure. She was so eager to make connections and is the kind of dog who makes you smile without even trying.

Nanuq and I are thrilled to have her join the pack 💚

Get Mutty Gear 🎒🐾

After more than 10 years with my old backpack… through daily bike rides to school with heavy textbooks, grocery runs, and of course, so much hiking, it was finally time for a replacement. Finding something that could keep up with our daily adventures wasn’t going to be easy… but I found it… the Wandering Wolf Pack 🐺

I genuinely love this backpack. It’s thoughtfully designed, incredibly comfortable, and packed with features that I didn’t even know I was missing.

They thought of pretty much everything! Some of the features I love most:
- Dual water pack with spouts for both you and your dog
- The seriously lightweight and ergonomic design, supportive for back and shoulders. It even has a hammock style back so the actual pack doesn’t touch your middle back, which helps with heat too!
- Strong water resistance of the whole pack. I haven’t had to use it yet, but it even comes with a fully waterproof rain cover
- Tons of compartments and pockets for easy organization and quick access. It includes a fleece-protected pocket for your phone
- Large mesh-bottom pocket for the real dirty things, so the dirt and moisture shakes out instead of having the debris collecting inside, leaving the bag susceptible to stink and mold.
- Hands free leash system - with 2 awesome, shock-absorbing and adjustable leashes.
- Attachable treat pouch, p**p bag dispenser, plus an Odour-proof, airtight bag for packing out the p**p without the smell.

Even better? It’s from a small Canadian business run by someone who also has a rescue husky 💚

Big adventures for big… AND little dogs. 🌲🐕

So many small dogs are deeply loved, but quietly underestimated.

When we assume they can’t hike, can’t train, can’t build recall, or can’t handle new environments, we sometimes shrink their world without realizing it.

Small dogs deserve to be respected as dogs, and given the opportunity to be who they are.

Because small doesn’t erase instinct.
It doesn’t diminish intelligence.
And it certainly doesn’t reduce their need for real, natural enrichment.

Spend a morning watching a Chihuahua confidently move down the trail alongside a husky and you’ll see it immediately: curiosity, awareness, problem-solving, attunement. Different bodies, different strides… but the same deep fulfillment.

Our Explore and Pathfinder Hikes are intentionally paced to support dogs of all sizes, and packs are matched with care so all can know the joy of getting to simply be a dog.

Welcome Pearl 💚

Pearl is a senior lady who cares deeply for her sister and her human family. Her younger sister Piper joined a Woofpack, and Pearl signed up for semi-private Pathfinder Treks. 🌲

Pearl has a strong sense of self. She’s still warming up to me, but is content to move through the world at her own thoughtful pace. A true girl-gang-only gal, she prefers the company of puppies and other female dogs, making Jemma her perfect trail companion. 💕

I feel truly honoured to work with dogs like Pearl. Gaining their trust and being part of their journey is incredibly special. Soft energy, mutual respect, extra intro hikes, family involvement, and intentional matching make all the difference, so every hike is tailored to be a joyful experience for all dogs. 🌲

I am looking forward to all the exploring we’ll get to do together 🥾🐾

A sweet, nervous girl who recently joined one of our packs. New trails, new friends, lots of feelings, and that’s okay. We’re already so proud of her for showing up, and we can’t wait to see her confidence grow and her personality shine.

🌲 The MTB Woofpack is a premium, off-leash mountain biking experience for athletic, high-energy dogs — designed for those who need more than a walk to thrive.

Taking place in the early evening on 300+ acres of private, forested land near Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park, this ride gives your dog the space to explore & release energy in a healthy, structured way.

🚲 1–1.5 hour guided mountain bike run
🪨 10+ km of rugged, forested terrain
🌱 GPS tracker, crumb tag, & biothane collar for added peace of mind
🐾 Built-in decompression walk & cool-down
✔️ Pick-up & drop-off included
🐺 Small group, led by experienced riders & a seasoned trail dog

This ride is for physically fit, confident, & socially respectful, adult dogs who:
✔️ Exercise regularly on other days to maintain conditioning
✔️ Have a strong recall & trail awareness
✔️ Are dog-neutral or have a respectful play style
✔️ Thrive with movement & structure, not chaos

This isn’t just a workout — it’s a mentally enriching, confidence-building outlet for your wild-at-heart dog, rooted in trust, safety, and adventure.

A trial hike is required before joining the Woofpack. Training alongside the bike may be needed before participating in the actual off-leash mountain bike run.

Clients must commit to at least 1 ride a week to keep pack dynamics & physical condition in tact.

If you’re about to brush yours, perfect timing. Slather on that toothpaste and watch along. It’s only 60 seconds… so you’d better watch it twice, or we’re telling your dentist.
