Summer Camp Guest Artists! 📷

Over the next few weeks, we wanted to introduce you to each of the special guest artists that will be teaching their unique artistic style at each camp. A new artist for every week!

Week 7, Summer Creativity Camp: Through the Lens—join Erin Stagg as you all jump into the world of photography! We’ll use our eyes as our cameras, frame our world as art and work from photographs. Camera, set, action!

Erin Stagg is a nationally awarded Métis artist from Prince George, BC. She is best known for her landscapes and wildlife paintings but her most famous painting is of a Metis sash and smudging bowl titled Métis Pride. Although she now lives in Prince George, Erin grew up in the small community of Fort St. James, BC and has a great affinity for the place and people. Living surrounded by the forest, being educated in the Dakelh culture and living in a small town has been incredibly influential in Erin’s life.

Erin’s first solo exhibition was titled ‘Halfbreed Mother’ which featured paintings of motherhood on her family scrip. Her second exhibition was titled ‘Otipemisewak: the People who own Themselves' which featured her Metis family stories. Erin’s exhibition 'Wahkohtowin: Good Relation' was held in the Galleria last June.
