Express Entry Back-to-Back Draws Invite 2,534 Candidates From CEC and PNP - Full Breakdown & What It Means for July
I’m sharing an Express Entry update after quite some time, and it looks like July is starting with momentum. Canada has kicked off the month with back-to-back draws, signalling that more exciting updates may be coming.
IRCC opened July with two draws in just 48 hours, targeting both CEC and PNP candidates. This pattern often indicates that additional rounds may follow within the same week.
🔹 Latest Draws
📅 July 7, 2026 – Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
• ITAs: 2,000
• CRS cut-off: 517
• Tie-break: December 29, 2025 – 17:49:27 UTC
• Draw #36 of 2026
📅 July 6, 2026 – Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
• ITAs: 534
• CRS cut-off: 708
• Down 22 points from the June 22 PNP draw (730)
🔍 CEC: Why the Score Rose From 516 to 517
The one-point increase has little to do with a more competitive pool. It’s largely a result of draw size.
• June 23: 4,000 ITAs at CRS 516
• July 7: 2,000 ITAs at CRS 517
When IRCC cuts the draw size in half, the CRS generally rises. When draw sizes increase, the score usually falls. The pool itself has remained relatively stable.
CEC Volume Pattern
• March 31: 2,250 ITAs – CRS 509
• April 14: 2,000 ITAs – CRS 515
• April 28: 2,000 ITAs – CRS 514
• May 27: 3,000 ITAs – CRS 518 (after a four-week gap)
• June 23: 4,000 ITAs – CRS 516
• July 7: 2,000 ITAs – CRS 517
CEC CRS range in 2026: 507–518
Highest CEC CRS in 2026: 518 (May 27)
📊 CEC in Historical Context
2026
• January opened at CRS 511 with 8,000 ITAs
• Q1 issued 30,250 ITAs with CRS between 507–511
• Q2 saw smaller draws and CRS increased to 514–518
• Highest CRS so far: 518 (May 27)
• By mid-2026: Approximately 41,000 CEC ITAs issued
2025
• CRS ranged from 515–547
• May peaked at 547
• July 8, 2025: 3,000 ITAs at CRS 518
2024
• CRS ranged from 510–541
2021
• CRS scores were in the mid-300s
The long-term trend is clear:
2021 (300s) → 2024 (low 500s) → 2025 (mid/high 500s) → 2026 (514–518 range).
The Express Entry pool is structurally more competitive than it was three to five years ago.
🔍 PNP: What CRS 708 Really Means
Recent PNP draws
• April 27: CRS 795
• June 22: CRS 730 (largest PNP draw of 2026)
• July 6: CRS 708 (second-lowest PNP CRS of 2026)
2025 comparison
• March 3: CRS 667
• November 25: CRS 699
A CRS of 708 is one of the more accessible PNP thresholds seen over the past two years. Remember that PNP candidates already receive 600 additional points through their provincial nomination.
For example:
Base CRS 110 + Provincial Nomination = CRS 710
The month-long gap since June 22 allowed nominations to accumulate, while the smaller draw size naturally pushed the cut-off higher.
📈 Why Draws Are Smaller Now
2026 Federal High-Skilled target: 109,000 admissions (CEC, FSW and FSTP)
Current position
• End of March: 52,891 ITAs issued (about 51% of the annual target)
• End of June: 89,601 total ITAs issued
• Mid-2026: Approximately 41,000 CEC ITAs
IRCC used a significant portion of its annual quota during the first half of the year.
That’s one of the key reasons why Q2 and Q3 draws have generally become smaller.
What Could Be Left for 2026?
If IRCC continues issuing around 2,000–2,500 ITAs per CEC draw, we could see approximately 4–6 more CEC rounds this year, assuming roughly 8,000–15,000 spots remain.
Express Entry pool (July 5, 2026): 235,127 candidates
Meaningful CRS declines are unlikely unless IRCC:
• Increases draw sizes beyond 4,000 ITAs, or
• Raises annual immigration targets.
For now, the sub-510 CEC era appears to be behind us.
🔮 What Could Be Next?
1. French-Language Draw (Most Likely in the Next 1–3 Days)
No French-language draw has been held since May, allowing the pool to build.
Expected CRS: 410–430
2. Category-Based Draw
Possible categories include:
• Healthcare
• Trades
• Physicians
• Researchers
The last Healthcare draw on June 25 invited 4,000 candidates with a CRS cut-off of 475.
3. Next CEC Draw
Likely in 3–4 weeks.
Possible scenarios:
• 3,000–4,000 ITAs → CRS around 514–516
• 2,000 ITAs → CRS around 516–519
🧭 What Your CRS Means Right Now
CRS 517+
You were within today’s range. If you didn’t receive an ITA, check your tie-break date.
CRS 510–516
You’re in the competitive zone. One larger draw could bring the CRS down to your score.
CRS 490–509
CEC alone may not be enough at current draw sizes. Consider:
• French-language draws (cut-offs as low as 393 in 2026)
• Provincial Nominee Programs (+600 points)
• Category-based draws (Healthcare, Trades, etc.)
CRS Below 480
It may be time to consider a different strategy, such as French proficiency, a Provincial Nominee Program, or category-based selection.

🎉 Congratulations to everyone who received an ITA!
This is a major milestone. If you’re preparing your e-APR, stay organized, double-check every document, and submit a complete application as early as possible.
