In an interview on LelPodcast, former Naughty Dog director Vinit Agarwal revealed that the cancelled The Last of Us multiplayer game was reportedly about 80% finished before it was scrapped. He explained that after the post-COVID slowdown in the gaming industry, Sony chose to shift its funding, ultimately deciding between continuing the multiplayer project or moving forward with a new title led by Neil Druckmann.

Agarwal described the cancellation as extremely difficult, mentioning he found out just 24 hours before it was publicly announced. He also shared that Naughty Dog is currently working on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, along with another project that hasn’t been revealed yet.
