NNP is so pleased to have partnered up with the Horticultural and Environmental Sciences Innovation Centre (HESIC)Β at Niagara College to provide fresh peppers to students across the region. πŸ™ŒπŸ«‘πŸŒΆ

HESIC, based out of the Niagara-on-the-Lake campus, focuses on applied research trials in controlled greenhouse environments, working closely with industry partners to test new technologies, products, and crop varieties. The peppers grown at their facility are absolutely delicious and students love them! πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

Coordination of pepper supply to Niagara schools works like this: after harvesting on Mondays, the HESIC program notifies NNP how many boxes of peppers are available. NNP Warehouse Coordinator Krystalyn contacts schools to distribute the peppers and arranges delivery from our fantastic volunteer team. Our volunteers then deliver fresh peppers at schools for students to enjoy! 🀝🚚🏫

We are so grateful to Niagara College and the HESIC program for their generous contributions to help students:
Eat 🍎
Learn πŸ“š
Succeed πŸŽ“

At Canadian Martyrs Elementary School in St. Catharines, the student nutrition program runs efficiently and keeps learners filled with healthy, nutritious food! πŸ€ΈπŸ€Ύβ€β™€οΈπŸ₯£

Grade 2 student volunteers hand out cooler bags to each class, loaded with the schools' diverse food selection, which includes fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and proteins. The students match the bag to the classroom number and hang the bag on each classroom door. At the end of the day, a grade 8 student collects all the bags and ensures they are organized properly for program volunteers to fill for the next school day. Everyone loves their jobs and takes great pride in working together to help students eat 🍎, learn πŸ“š and succeed πŸŽ“.

Well done, Canadian Martyrs! Thank you for working together to make your school nutrition program a success!! πŸ‘πŸ€

We had a busy Monday at NNP headquarters! Our warehouse was hopping with volunteers loading up cases of donated yogurt and peppers to deliver to schools across Niagara. πŸ«‘πŸš—πŸ«

Chuck, a long-time dedicated volunteer and supporter of student nutrition, didn't hesitate when we asked him to deliver 34 cases of yogurt, donated by Breakfast Clubs of Canada, and bags of fresh peppers, donated by Niagara College. 🫢

Schools gratefully accept donated food to supplement their student nutrition program and help stretch their budget. Loaded with protein and vital nutrients, yogurt and peppers help keep students feeling full, high energy and able to focus during their learning day. πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘©β€πŸ«

Thank you Breakfast Clubs of Canada, Niagara College, and volunteers for helping students eat 🍎, learn πŸ“š and succeed πŸŽ“!
