This month's blog explores a different kind of ageism—the voice in our own heads. It's the voice that whispers, "I'm too old for that," or "It's too late to start something new." While we can challenge ageist attitudes when we encounter them in the world around us, sometimes our biggest obstacle is our own thinking. If you've ever talked yourself out of trying something because of your age, this blog is for you.
The Hidden Opponent: The Battle Between Fear and Possibility - LifeShiift I have always admired elite athletes. We watch them compete against formidable opponents and assume the contest is happening entirely on the field, court, or track. Yet when athletes are interviewed after a big win or loss, many describe a different battle altogether. They talk about managing fear,....

Have you ever thought, “I could never travel alone?”
For me, it’s about preparing myself — physically, emotionally, and mentally — so I can step into the world with confidence and curiosity.
In this video, I share the routines and mindset shifts that help me continue travelling independently in this stage of life.

In Scotland we had a chance to spend time with varios birds of prey. This is the eagle.
This was an interesting listen. Often we hear about older people who are exceptional e.g. the woman who ran a marathon at 86
The research that they quoted talked about how older people generally think they are happier than when they were younger not just the ones that are exceptional- ordinary people as well.
This does not ignore that fact that as you get older some unpleasant things happen - get sick, may get weaker, some friends/ family members die but you can still think more positively about your life
The research study allowed older people to talk about the positives not just the negatives. In the past, studies tended to focus on the negatives so that the positive only came out as a lack of negatives.
Give it a listen and let me know what you think!

Our blog this month comes to us from Candace Cima of Living Life in My 70s, who has been a guest blogger here before. I always appreciate her wit and wisdom, and this piece especially spoke to me given everything that has happened in my life over the past six months.

Here is one quote that really hit home for me:
“Because moving forward is not about forgetting, it is about allowing yourself to continue becoming who you are meant to be.”
Wise words indeed.
Embrace and Release - LifeShiift I am often asked how I maintain a positive attitude. The truth is it isn’t something I consciously decided one day. It is something that seems to have unfolded over time until I realized I had adopted a simple philosophy: Embrace and Release. But what does that really mean? To me, it means fully e...
