One mindfulness tip to put into practice each week. This week we introduce a simple earth element meditation π§π½
β
The elements that make up our bodies and our form are the same as those that make up the world around us. These elements are constantly in exchange, and connect us to all other beings, and the earth around us.
β
When we forget that we are connected, pain and suffering can arise. We might see ourselves as separate from the world and in this separation seek relief in the external world instead of finding it from within.
β
The following meditation and exercise helps us remember the connection between ourselves and the people and places around us. Now more than ever is it important to remember that we are not separated but all and everything connected. We are not unique in our pains nor in our desire for happiness.
β
β
β Take a seat in a comfortable posture
β Check your posture, straight yet comfortable spine. And grounded through the seatbones
β Close your eyes and focus on the breath
β Bring awareness to your bodyβs outer silhouette
β Now slowly guide your awareness inwards, past muscles, bones and organs
β If you can, zero in on the molecules which make up βyouβ. Remember that these molecules together make up this space and form your body has.
β You and the earth in which you sit, are made of the same building blocks
β Notice the exchange of molecule within and without through your breath and/or visualisation
β Rest here in the awareness that there is no separation between βyouβ and your world.
β Let your breath, and the quality of your mind reflect the qualities of the world youβd like to live in
β Remain open, spacious, and free from needing anything around you to be different
β
Finish with a few mindful deep breaths, connecting you further to the earth through your sit bones and feet. Sit for a moment with what you notice from the practice. Share a heart if you tried β‘
