✨ 2 pups looking for homes - meet skipper & professor ✨
2 male pups | Born May 2 | 6+ pounds & growing! | Puppy energy | Live with a dog | Haven’t met kids or cats | From Manitoba | Fostered in Winnipeg | Arrival date in Toronto TBD | Both looking for separate adopters
SKIPPER and PROFESSOR are our latest adoptable scruffy pups, and both are looking for new homes. We’d like to say that they’re coming in hot to Toronto, but their arrival date is actually still to be determined! By the end of June, these pups will be eight weeks old, meaning they will be ready to fly literally and figuratively into your arms at the end of June/early July.
Let’s find them some really, really great homes, shall we?!
Let’s talk size first. Both SKIPPER and PROFESSOR are likely to grow into medium-sized dogs (think 50-80 pounds). For a little extra info, their mum is a beautiful blonde husky mix! These five-week-old scruffs are just as gorgeous as her - SKIPPER being the beautiful brown pup and PROFESSOR having the cool coat of black, white, and brown.
To describe their still-early tendencies, we’ve heard that SKIPPER, the slightly bigger one of the two (7lbs 9oz as of the end of May), is more energetic - jumping and playing at any given time. PROFESSOR, the smaller guy (6lbs 8oz as of the end of May) is the cuddle bug, small in size yet big on snuggles, giving puppy kisses, and snoozing the day away. Obviously, both are keepers.
Both pups have experience living with a resident dog while in foster care, and will need all basic training - everything from house to leash to crate training. Up to the task? Please know that if you apply to adopt one of these scruffs, you’ll need to be able to pick him up from the airport in Toronto. Again, that date is TBD!

84 days in care, please share senior Doug the pug 💞
Male | 10 years old | 22 pounds | Low energy | Coexists with a dog | Gentle with young kids | Hasn’t met cats | From Ontario | Fostered in Peterborough | Quirky & cute | Easy going | A professional napper
It’s DOUG the pug’s time to shine in the adoption spotlight, and we are SO here for it! Described as “a very good houseguest,” DOUG loves his human interaction, enrichment activities, and getting excited for treats. He’s cute and quirky (it’s the expressive eyes and underbite combo for us) and especially appreciates when his people invite him in for a cuddle or two.
A day with DOUG often involves a healthy amount of napping, which includes structured crate naps, since he experiences some separation anxiety. He loves nothing more than being comfy and, yes, is a professional napper. While he likes to keep an eye on what his people are up to, you’ll find that he’s quite an easy-going guy. His foster parent works shifts, which means every day is a little different, and DOUG over here is pleased as punch to be going with the flow. The one thing that doesn’t please him as much is working through a little ear infection. Obviously, he isn’t the hugest fan of ear drops, but his foster fam has persisted, and it’s definitely gotten easier!
What else? DOUG the pug lives with an older resident dog, and, honestly? He’s indifferent to him, and they simply coexist. On the other hand, DOUG is a happy little scruff when meeting other dogs on walks! DOUG is all tail wags meeting adults, and he shows off his gentle side meeting kids, doing best with those who respect his boundaries.
Lately, DOUG has found his voice in foster care and sometimes barks at the window. Generally speaking, though, he’s a quiet dog and would likely do well in an equally chill home. A couple of short strolls a day (during which he walks well on leash!) plus some enrichment in the evening, suits him well. He’s not very playful, but he will always accept a belly rub. You know, if you were curious.

JUST pulled from the shelter, meet tonka 💞
At just 11 months old, this guy found himself at the shelter and no one came to claim him. Usually, a highly adoptable small breed like him would be adopted quickly at their facility, but blood test results had some slightly elevated numbers that required a 30 day supplement. Instead of keeping him kennelled for a month, the staff made the decision to look for a foster based rescue. So welcome tonka!
Tonka is a lively guy, he likes to be centre of attention. We are just getting to know him and will have to report back soon on how he settles into care.
Welcome Tonka 💞✨

Morita is home 🏠💞
““Morita has been a dream! Every person we pass comments on how good she is. She gets massages each night and told she is loved, she is home and she is safe now. She truly has fit in with our family so well”.
Yay! Love this update 😭🥹

Lua is home 💞✨
Lua is doing great!! A note from her adopters:
“Lua is doing great! We’re settling into a nice routine, every day you can see she is getting more comfortable with her new environment and she’s making a bunch of new friends (both dogs and humans)! We wake up everyday at 5 am, she goes to the backyard for potty time and then we both eat breakfast before heading out for our morning walk. She loves walking in the giant field of grass at our nearby park and all the early morning walkers adore her. Oh she also loves laundry day, for some reason she loves sleeping on my laundry that I need to fold lol”
Congrats to Lua and her family 💞✨
