New Developments in the Wisconsin Beagle Rescue Saga that’s gotten global media coverage. Open Rescue leader and attorney Wayne Hsiung is set to appear in court in Madison, Wisconsin today and UnchainedTV aims to bring it to you LIVE from inside court. Hsiung is the leader of the campaign to free 2,000 beagles confined inside a troubled beagle breeding facility. He reportedly faces a felony burglary charge as a party to a crime, a Class F felony carrying a maximum penalty of 12 years and six months in prison and a $25,000 fine.

Hsiung led a March 15th, 2026 “open rescue” at Ridglan Farms where more than 30 beagles were freed by about 60 animal rights activists. 8 beagles were then grabbed by law enforcement but two dozen beagles were whisked to safety and are currently scattered in homes throughout the United States.

Meanwhile, Hsiung led a second open rescue on Saturday, April 18th where about 1,000 animal lovers surged towards Ridglan Farms. Hsiung was arrested at the very start of that action and remained jailed for a couple of days before being freed on $20-thousand dollars cash bail.

Hundreds of would-be beagle rescuers were hit with tear gas, and some with rubber bullets, preventing them from entering the facility. A class action complaint has been filed alleging excessive police force. Activists assert they have a legal right to remove the beagles after whistleblower testimony in court that dogs were being subject to painful surgeries without anesthesia by non-veterinarians. Ridglan denies the cruelty allegations and is invited on any time to comment. Now, Hsiung is back in court for a preliminary hearing in his case. UnchainedTV’s Lindsey Baker and Jane Velez-Mitchell join reporter-in-court Amy Van Aartsen for LIVE coverage.
