𝗔𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹, 𝗔𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
You never quite know what’s waiting on the other end of the next call — and that’s half the fun of being a neighbourhood handyman.
This time, a homeowner was dealing with a parquet floor that had been damaged by a water leak. To make things trickier, sections of the floor were completely missing. After calling around to track down replacement parquet (which, as it turns out, isn’t exactly flying off the shelves these days), it became clear we’d need a different approach.
That’s when I noticed something: the same parquet flooring was tucked away inside a closet. I suggested we carefully remove those pieces and use them to patch the damaged area. Since closets don’t see much foot traffic, it was the perfect solution — and a great way to keep everything matching seamlessly.
With a bit of problem-solving and some careful work, the floor was brought back to life without the need for a full replacement. Sometimes it just takes a fresh set of eyes — and a little creativity — to make an old floor look good again.

𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁, 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁
Got a call for a small job — caulking around a toilet. Not exactly glamorous work… but it’s one of those little details that makes a big difference.
Over time, the seal around the base of a toilet can crack, shrink, or separate. When that happens, moisture can sneak underneath, leading to unpleasant odours, hidden water damage, and even soft or rotting flooring. Fresh, properly applied caulking helps keep things clean, secure, and protected — and it also gives the bathroom a crisp, finished look.
It’s a quick task when done right, but it’s an important one. As your neighbourhood handyman, I’m always happy to take care of these smaller jobs before they turn into bigger (and more expensive) problems. Sometimes it’s the simplest fixes that protect your home the most.

𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗙𝗶𝘅, 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲
Wrapped up a shower re-caulking job for a neighbourhood client, and this is one of those projects where the before-and-after really speaks for itself. The old caulking was missing in spots and starting to mould, which not only looked tired but could lead to leaks down the road.

Fresh caulk and cleaning some of the grout instantly transformed the shower — clean lines, a brighter look, and proper protection where it matters most. Jobs like this might seem small, but they go a long way in preventing future water damage and keeping things looking sharp. Honestly, I never get tired of seeing that final result come together.

𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿, 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁
This laundry room cupboard had its vinyl surface peeling away from the wood — not a major renovation, but one of those little issues that keeps catching your eye. I reattached and repaired the delaminated surface so the cabinet is solid again and looks the way it should.

It’s a small project, but it makes a big difference in how the space feels. And because I’m right in the neighbourhood, I can easily drop by to take care of these minor repairs that are often hard to get someone out for. Sometimes it’s the little fixes that make a home feel put back together.

𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿 & 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
Got a call to repair damaged wood siding on a pool house after a raccoon managed to claw its way in. I removed the broken sections, repaired and secured the siding, and made sure everything was properly sealed so the raccoon couldn’t regain access. While on site, I also identified and plugged up smaller entry points that squirrels and mice were using. Painting will have to wait till warmer weather
Catching these issues early helps prevent bigger repairs down the road and keeps unwanted guests out for good.

𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝘄-𝗨𝗽
This project was all about giving the ground floor of the home a fresh, updated look. I painted all the main living areas, including the walls, ceilings, trim work, hallway, and interior doors were painted using a single colour to keep the look clean, simple, and consistent throughout the space.

To finish off the refresh, I also swapped out the existing silver door handles for modern black hardware, a small change that made a big visual difference and tied the whole space together.

By handling the painting and hardware updates at the same time, the homeowner was able to get a complete refresh without juggling multiple trades—efficient, tidy, and done with attention to detail.

𝗞𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵 — 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁, 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀
This recent kitchen refresh was all about getting a lot done in a short time. I updated the space with fresh paint on the walls, ceiling, trim, and cabinetry, giving the kitchen a brighter, more modern feel. Used the same colour Benjamin Moore White Dove for all surfaces but with different sheens for that colour wash look. To complete the look, I also swapped out the old silver cabinet hardware for sleek black handles and replaced the dated kitchen faucet with a new one.

By handling the painting, trim work, cabinet updates, hardware change, and faucet replacement all at once, the homeowner didn’t need to coordinate multiple trades or schedules. One project, one point of contact, and a finished kitchen that feels completely refreshed.

𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲-𝗖𝗮𝘂𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵
Got a call from a client to freshen up a shower that had mold showing in the old caulk. Over time, worn caulk can lead to moisture issues, mildew, and damage behind the walls if it’s not taken care of.
I removed the failing caulk, properly cleaned and prepped the area, and applied fresh, mold-resistant caulking to seal everything up tight. The result was a clean, refreshed look and a properly sealed shower ready for daily use again.

Helped a homeowner get their house market-ready by removing old wall-to-wall carpet that had seen better days. Pulling it up instantly refreshed the space and made the rooms feel brighter, cleaner, and more appealing for potential buyers. Getting rid of dated finishes like old carpet is a simple step that can make a big difference when preparing a home for sale — and it’s one less thing for the homeowner to worry about as they get ready to start a new chapter.

Got a call from a client dealing with a sink drain that had started leaking. The problem turned out to be a small internal piece that had snapped off the drain-plug lever—one of those little parts that can cause a big mess if left unchecked.
I removed the broken hardware and installed a new lavatory pop-up drain with overflow. A simple, tidy fix that restored the sink to full working order.
