Thank you for joining me for “Embroidery with Intention: Sashiko & Symbolism” hosted by ! Sara trusted me to teach a new take on my sashiko workshop, where I showed participants different ways to incorporate symbolism into their stitching projects.
This is a small talisman I created based on yabane (arrow feathers) and a sword. Arrows symbolize moving forward, and swords can stand for decisiveness - I hope that this patch can remind me to make confident decisions.
Thank you for hosting, Sara, this was a fun opportunity! 🪡🧵

Join me & Studio Mooi for a comprehensive beginner sashiko mending workshop: Thursday, September 05, 6:30-9:30 PM.
🧵
Embrace autumn, the season of transition, and learn hand-sewing techniques that will extend the life of your clothing. Sashiko is a method of visible mending originating in Japan during the Edo period. In this workshop, I will help you create a patch to mend a garment, while giving you some of the historical and cultural context behind indigo dyeing and sashiko.
