**Intermediate level reading** How investors can protect themselves from fraud risk using an investee's Fidelity Bond, a type of fraud insurance including for employee fraud. We thought it was a good time to remind Executives and Investors, in light of the recently alleged fraud scandal of Bridging Finance in Canada, that it should be a top priority to have the Fidelity Bond of an investee audited by risk experts independent of any insurance broker or company.

The Fidelity Bond has to be reworded to pay out to investors in the event of specific and relevant fraud risk scenarios. This is a much better and faster solution for investors instead of them going through the motions of launching lawsuits against their investee after a fraud event occurs.

Financial Institutions including Asset Managers are required by regulators to purchase a Fidelity Bond however while it does check the regulatory box, it does little to protect investors from fraud.
