Thanks to everyone for coming out to our first field trip of the school year. We visited Cleveland Dam, Mackay Creek Catch Basin and Mosquito Creek with technical talks given by Duncan Wiley. We also headed out to a tunnelling site, soon to be underway, with Nichole Boultbee a Tunneling Association of Canada (TAC) Board of Director for Young Members. We then finished off our trip at the Cheam Slide!
Special thanks to our platinum sponsors BGC Engineering, Golder Associates & Thurber Engineering for making this trip possible.

What’s your favourite thing about UBC Engineering?
The people and the adventures that a degree in engineering from UBC can open up for you all over the world! I chose to take on the exciting challenge of becoming an engineering student here at UBC because of the incredible sense of camaraderie and personal connection that has presented itself since the day I stepped foot into the Engineering Open House nearly six years ago. I am so glad and proud to have joined this family of self-proclaimed nerds! Through our faculty and my department of Geological Engineering, I have had the incredible opportunity to work in various places across Canada through the co-op program, as well as take on the unforgettable experience of studying abroad 75km north of the Arctic Circle in Greenland! Without the support of faculty and friends here at UBC, these exciting adventures probably would have never happened!
