Behold! My fledgling leather-crafty process.
Woke up on Sunday morning with some ideas for an abstract design and an overwhelming itch to leather-craft. Fired up Adobe Illustrator, spent a couple of hours mucking about with the pen tool, exported a couple of variants, took some time experimenting with the right engraving settings on m'loaf Bex' fancy laser cutter/engraver tool, dialled 'em in, and made a couple of wrist cuffs, which turned out pretty neat!
Some context:
When a handful of my friends / former band members and I travelled to Burning Man in 2009 in a rented RV, one of them had brought along this incredible, large-format book of aerially photographed crop circles, which I'd perused at great length during our 30-some-hour-long drive down to Nevada. I recall being utterly mesmerized by a particular crop circle that'd featured three chevrons aligned in perfect triangular symmetry; so mesmerized, in fact, that I'd made a vaguely similar design (also in Illustrator) and had it tattooed on my right upper arm fourteen years ago... although the artist kinda goofed and the one-smaller-tri-chevron-inside-a-larger-one ended up inadvertently resembling the Triforce from Zelda, buuut that's another tale altogether, ha.
The design on these cuffs features a variation of that tri-chevron within a circle, along with some more chevrons loosely shaped into an "A" (somewhat ironically being surrounded by copied-and-pasted sides of the "A" from my Alyag logo -- they're the upward/sideward pointing spikies).
This particular set is sized to an 9" wrist, but -- should the interest arise -- I could easily custom-craft one for a smaller wrist circumference. (does want? let know!)
I also haven't tried seeing how these designs would pan out on black leather yet, but I do have some material on hand, so... 🤔
