The Voices Empower Walk organized by Women's Crisis Services of Waterloo Region in City of Waterloo brought our community together today. Funds raised support Anselma House and Haven House — essential services for those affected by intimate partner violence in our region.
Intimate Partner Violence is an epidemic. Every 6 days, a woman is killed. Grateful to the organizers and everyone who showed up to support this work. 💜

I was honoured to attend the closing of the Migration Film Festival last Friday for the screening of "A Dream Called Khushi" in City of Kitchener.
The film tells the remarkable story of Rahima Khushi and her determination to pursue an education while stateless and growing up in a Bangladeshi refugee camp.
I’m privileged to know Rahima now that she lives in Canada and is pursuing her university education. She is an inspiration and a true leader—both within the Rohingya community and across our Region.
Thank you to Waterloo Region Immigration Partnership for hosting such a moving event. And to Rishabh Raj Jain for his powerful film.

Honoured to join the University of Waterloo and Waterloo community for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Witnessed the powerful transfer of the eagle staff and walked Ring Road, reflecting on the deep, lasting impacts of residential schools on Indigenous communities.
Grateful to be present and to reflect with the City of Waterloo community as we continue this important journey together.
