On the dressing code for Bakossi people here is small research and a response from a Nhon

"Good evening, everyone. Permit me to shed light on the traditional attire associated with the Bakossi tribe. The Bakossi, similar to other Sawa tribes, have a distinctive traditional attire:

*Men:*

*Sanja:*
This attire is traditionally crafted from Rapa material and sewn in a three-piece style. What distinguishes the Bakossi Sanja from those of other Sawa tribes is the unique two-tail design (Menzelo) that drapes behind when tied. Regrettably, there is a trend towards replacing this natural Rapa material with velvet.

*Shirt:*
Simple white shirts or shirts of any other color are worn, often featuring lace and sewn in a chieftaincy design.

**Caps:**
- Hand-made raffia caps without cowries or feathers (Ekute Ngwe)
- Hat
- Sock-like cap (Melap)

It is important to note that all caps are typically black or another color, excluding red.

Only the Behons are entitled to wear black shirts over black Sanja with a red cap (Melab) and a red (or white) sash (Etud) tied around their waist.

Of course, the chiefs wear red caps (Melab) with a black ball at the end and a red sash.

There are no restrictions preventing any male Bakossi from wearing a black Sanja over a black shirt. However, it is imperative not to wear a red cap and sash as part of any traditional attire unless one is a member of the Ahon secret society.

Also, it is customary for all male members of the Bakossi tribe to carry the traditional bag (Ngwin) and broom (kwen) when dressed in traditional attire".
