PC Akum Holds Special Retirement Service for Rev. Voma Simon Montoh After Over 40 Years of Ministry.
A special retirement Divine Service has been held at the Presbyterian Church Akum Mile 4 in honour of Rev. Voma Simon Montoh, who has retired from active ministry after more than 40 years of dedicated service in the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC).
The service took place on Sunday, June 28, 2026.
The historic occasion brought together a large Christian community, including PCC pastors, members of his Bali Nyongha village community, friends, and well-wishers, all of whom gathered to celebrate a life devoted to shepherding God's people.
Addressing the congregation, Rev. Voma reflected on his ministerial journey with gratitude and encouraged members of PC Akum, fondly known as "Small London," to remain united and supportive of the church's next phase of leadership.
"As I go home on retirement, I wish the PCC better days," he said. "As PC Akum prepares to welcome the pastor who will succeed me, my message is simple: collaborate with him. Continue working together so that this congregation will maintain its strength and continue to grow."
Describing retirement as "a blessing and not a curse," Rev. Voma expressed gratitude to God for the strength, grace, and opportunity to serve throughout his ministry, saying he was embracing a new chapter of life with thanksgiving.
Rev. Voma's ministry spanned more than ten presbyteries across the PCC, during which he served in various pastoral and administrative capacities.
Colleagues described him as a faithful minister, dedicated administrator, and mentor whose humility, consistency, and commitment positively impacted countless lives.
The retirement service featured goodwill messages, presentations of gifts, and heartfelt tributes from fellow pastors and church members, who praised his selfless and exemplary service to the Church.
One of the most emotional moments of the celebration was a special musical presentation composed and performed by his children in his honour. The song, which highlighted his sacrifices, unwavering commitment to the Gospel, and devotion to both family and church, moved many in the congregation to tears.
Rev. Voma Simon Montoh is a native of Bali Nyongha. He is married to Mrs. Nyango Helen Montoh, and together they are blessed with five children and several grandchildren.
As he retires from active ministry, PC Akum and the wider Presbyterian Church in Cameroon celebrate not only the conclusion of an outstanding pastoral career but also the enduring legacy of a servant of God who exemplified faithfulness, humility, collaboration, and love for Christ's Church.
