I loved how the sunset was so warm & orange & glowing, that I kept checking my color grading thinking I was botching something. The contrast of powerful elements meeting delicate movement stick with me. The jagged rocks meeting the incoming tide, the gusts of wind picking up the scarf, the soft flow through controlled movements.

Where do I even begin?

꩜ Imagine finding women who feel familiar.
Not because you know their story
but because your body softens around them.

༄ Women don’t find each other by accident.
This wasn’t random.
This felt older than us, like remembering.

༝ When women gather, something ancient wakes up.
When they gather in the waters
which holds codes & memory;
they’re held.
Community is the medicine.
Together we soften.

This wasn’t just a retreat,
it was a remembering
& an answer to a calling.
Women remembering themselves together.

I document what happens when women feel safe enough
to be raw
to be real
&
to be seen
to be witnessed.

I had the stellar opportunity to not only document this retreat but to join hybrid as well. This vision began well over a year ago, my best friend & I traveled to Costa Rica to tour retreat facilities to chase down her dream. We journeyed thousands of jungle miles, trekked to the highest mountains, stopped by many surf town & ate an absurd amount of ceviche. The hunt for “the one” was one that Ashley did not cut corners to find.

She Is Rising Surf & Yoga Retreat —- made possible by the one & only 🪷 so proud of my bestie for chasing down a dream to empower & enlighten & bring women back to each other. Your endless effort was felt in every last detail.
