EuroMed Rights

The final panel of the International Conference on "Prisons and Other Places of Deprivation of Liberty" focused on advocacy pathways for national governments, UN and EU institutions, and international stakeholders. The discussion highlighted how civil society can leverage national and international human rights mechanisms to strengthen accountability, close the gap between legal standards and realities on the ground, and advance meaningful reform in places of deprivation of liberty.

Panelists emphasized the need for stronger oversight, greater transparency, and sustained advocacy to ensure that documented human rights violations are effectively addressed and that international human rights standards are translated into meaningful change.
