Service Update: A Little Morning Hiccup!

Our incredible streak of 1 year and 1 day of zero downtime has officially been broken this morning, as we've hit a few intermittent glitches. There was a brief moment of panic where we thought someone was trying to scrape our site... but false alarm... we hope!

Kenny is hard at work on the case right now trying to track down the actual cause to get everything fully stabilised.

Things might just be a little bit intermittent for a short while longer while he works his magic, but we should be back to 100% very soon. Apologies for the inconvenience and thank you all for your patience.

Humphrey Smith, the famously traditional and eccentric owner of Samuel Smith's, has passed away at 81.

Love or hate his strict rules, from banning mobiles and music to prohibiting swearing, he ran his 200+ pubs entirely his own way to preserve the classic British pub. He was a controversial figure, but he was also a titan of our industry and a family man, and our thoughts go out to those close to him.

With his son Samuel taking over, the big question for the trade is whether we will see a shift toward more modern times, or if the fiercely independent Tadcaster traditions will carry on exactly as they are.

Had a brilliant time judging for the Scotland leg of the Society of Independent Brewers - SIBA Indie Beer Awards in Edinburgh on Friday.

Getting to try so many different beers was fantastic, but the best part of these events is always the people. I had a wonderful time just chatting away, catching up with old friends, and hanging out with people who love a good pint as much as I do.🍺

Huge congratulations to all the independent Scottish breweries who took home awards! A cracking day all round. 🍻
