On Friday I attended an event as a guest speaker, sat on a panel, and was asked questions about modern day success, leadership, and money; and afterwards, the usual happened: new followers, kind messages from inspired local female founders, and lovely story tags from the audience.

The following morning I got one more tag. This one was different.

It was a video of me on the sofa with two other (amazing) speakers, but, unlike them, I was nowhere to be seen...

Whoever this lady was who had filmed and tagged me, had held her camera so precisely, that my knee cap didn't even make the shot!

I was cropped out completely. On purpose. Then tagged, so I'd see it.

So let's just call this out for what it is.

Jealousy.

Not the quiet "oh well, good for her" kind. The kind that sits and records a video, and purposely cuts you out of your own moment, then makes sure you see it.

I'm not upset about it. In fact I genuinely couldn't care less, but I wanted to share it with you, and address it.

Here's the bit I want you to take away, and I'm going to use pizza as an example.

Success isn't a pizza with a fixed number of slices. Nobody's slice gets smaller because someone else orders their own pizza. There's an unlimited number of pizzas, and unlimited ovens, okay?!

In other words, someone else doing well changes nothing about what's available to you, and your potential success.

So if you're someone who catches themselves feeling a little jealous when watching someone else win, maybe they've just had a successful launch, a special feature in a magazine, a fully booked diary, whatever it is; you probably already know this, but that feeling isn't about them... It's about you.

It's telling you there's a gap of where you are and where you want to be.

Now you can spend your energy trying to shrink that person to make yourself (temporarily) feel better, like holding the camera just right so they don't make the shot. Or instead, you can spend that energy closing the gap. Invest in the mentor. Get the coach. Do the thing you've been putting off.

One of the above moves you forward. The other just makes you the person quietly cutting strangers on the internet out of videos.

I know which one I'd rather be.

A gorgeous day was had this week, speaking at a fellow beauty business mentors event.

So many ladies ask me the same question when I do these events, especially those that aspire to become coaches or mentors…

“Layla! How do you charge those prices, when other coaches in the industry don’t charge half as much?!”

My answer is always straight up: “I’m not like the other coaches!”.

and it’s not just because they haven’t reached this level, or that I’ve been doing this the longest.

You can’t even find my prices as my 121 Coaching application is a hidden page that I only show people if I want to work with them/know I can help them…

PLUS! I don’t want to work full time so I don’t want to be so busy coaching. That’s the truth.

I also just don’t do what lots of them do…

For example, I don’t try and help everyone, and I don’t share or claim big numbers online.

But what I do, do, is share my over two decades of experience in setting up and scaling real businesses.

The good, the bad the ugly - ALL OF IT (it’s not all as glam as this photo!).

The results my clients have had have literally changed their lives!

New businesses are launched, new identities are born, more money is made, and bottom line, more freedom is what they get (which is the ULTIMATE goal as far as I’m concerned).

Next month I have another THREE of these events.

When I told my team to say yes to all speaker enquires this year, I didn’t expect so many to land…

… but grateful for every single one 🥰🫶🏻💞
