We're traveling the country, taking pictures, gaming, eating all we can, and writing about it. We've downsized to upsize our lives.

Day 4 of Valladolid saw us getting a picture of the famous colorful signs throughout Mexico. We went to a delicous Cafe near our destination, the Saint Bernardine Convent, built in 1552 on top of a cenote that was itself built over by the Maya. Many of the churches built in this era were built over Maya ruins. We finished the day off with the largest tamales we've ever seen and the go to sikil'paak.

We got to try Mucbipollo, the traditional Maya dish for Hanal Pixan. It was delicious. It's like a super large tamale, stuffed with chicken, veggies, etc. and baked in banana leaves.

Another great meal at Querekke. This is the cocktail place with food that is incredibly inventive. We had a pizza that was a deconstruction of Mucbipollo (food for the dead), the famous dish sold during Hanan Pixan to honor one's loved ones. The pizza was cooked on banana leaf and it was incredible.
The duck confit tacos were also incredible. That dessert was a molten brownie with toasted marshmallow fluff.
