Let’s unlearn the myths holding our generation back:
❌ Myth: Mental health struggles are just a phase you will grow out of.
💡 Fact: Mental health conditions are real, valid health issues. Half of all conditions start by age 14. Early intervention, support, and open conversations are critical for a young person's long-term well-being and development.
❌ Myth: "High-achievers" and strong youth leaders don’t struggle with anxiety.
💡 Fact: High-functioning anxiety is incredibly real. A young person can hit every target, lead a volunteer project flawlessly, and still experience intense internal pressure and stress. Check on your "strong" peers.
❌ Myth: Practicing self-care and taking a step back means you are being lazy.
💡 Fact: Rest is an essential part of leadership. You cannot pour from an empty cup. Setting boundaries and taking time to recharge is what keeps your community service and advocacy sustainable for the long haul.
❌ Myth: Mental health is a personal luxury, not a development issue.
💡 Fact: Mental wellness is a foundational right and an economic necessity. When youth face unaddressed mental health challenges, it limits their capacity to learn, work, and innovate. Mental health is youth empowerment.

This commitment is central to achieving SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, ensuring that productivity never comes at the cost of human well-being.

• 📜 Integrated Policies: Our internal frameworks go beyond basic compliance. We have established clear, actionable guidelines to identify and prevent psychosocial hazards before they start.
• 🤝 Orientation & Mentorship: Policies only work if they are embraced. We ensure every team member is empowered through comprehensive induction, paired mentorship for junior professionals, and regular training to keep these values active in our daily work.
• 📢 Transparent Reporting Lines: Safety requires trust. We have implemented confidential reporting channels and grievance procedures, ensuring that every staff member has a voice and a safe way to seek support without fear of retaliation.

What a powerful day at our 2026 General Assembly! On March 21st, YNSD members from across Ethiopia gathered at the Haile Grand Hotel to reflect on our journey and prepare for the year ahead.

Empowering Youth Entrepreneurs: The CSPW Local Bazar in Bati City!

We are thrilled to share the success of the Local Level Youth Enterprise Bazar recently held in Bati City!

As a core component of the Community Service as a Pathway to Work (CSPW) program, the Youth Network for Sustainable Development (YNSD), in close collaboration with Positive Action for Development (PAD) and the Bati City Administration Labor and Skills Office, organized this vibrant event to bridge the gap between young talent and sustainable market opportunities.

Strategic Highlights:
• Market Linkages: Creating platforms to strengthen the long-term viability of youth-led businesses.
• High-Level Endorsement: The Mayor of Bati City commended the CSPW program’s significant contributions to youth employment and enterprise development.
• Multi-Sectoral Support: Leadership from the Oromo Zone Job, Labor, and Skills Department officially opened the event, underscoring the importance of collaborative action.

The highlight of the day was the official ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by senior government officials alongside YNSD and PAD leadership. This marked a collective commitment to the next generation of Ethiopian entrepreneurs.

The event concluded with an inspiring exhibition tour, where participants showcased a diverse range of products and services, gaining invaluable networking opportunities and direct market access.
