The 13th All Africa Leather Fair, Africa’s largest leather and leather products trade fair is underway here in Addis Ababa from April 20 to 22, 2023, the Ethiopian Leather Industries Association (ELIA) announced.

ELIA Secretary General told the media recently that the association organized the fair in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry (MOI), the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration (MOTRI), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and other partners under the theme “the origin of leather.”

He stated that the Ethiopian leather industry is distinguished by its huge, trainable workforce, an abundance of prospective raw materials, and low utility costs. However, the industry encounters a number of challenges due to inadequate production, handling, and marketing regulations; a lack of contemporary tools and equipment that could improve the quality and efficacy of leather production; and outdated methods of animal husbandry as well as waste...
