Imagine having only minutes to leave your home.

No time to gather your belongings.
No certainty about where you will sleep.
No guarantee that your family will stay together.

For millions of refugees, this is not a story. It is reality.

The hardest part is not simply leaving home. It is leaving without knowing if you will ever return.

On World Refugee Day, we stand with those forced to flee conflict, persecution, and violence, and we reaffirm a simple principle:

Every person deserves safety. Every person deserves dignity. Every person deserves hope.

𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐠𝐞𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬.

Until everyone is safe, the work is not done.

🚫 Every child belongs in school, not at work.

Today, on the World Day Against Child Labour, we reaffirms that every child has the right to learn, grow, and thrive in a safe and supportive environment.

Child labour remains a serious challenge in Ethiopia. According to available national estimates, approximately 16 million children aged 5–17 have been engaged in child labour, and nearly one in four working children have been exposed to hazardous conditions.

Behind these numbers are children whose education, health, safety, and future opportunities are at risk.

Addressing child labour requires collective action. Governments, businesses, civil society organizations, communities, and development partners all have a role to play in protecting children from economic exploitation and ensuring access to quality education and social protection.

We call for stronger efforts to uphold children's rights, strengthen child protection systems, and create an environment where every child can reach their full potential.

A society's progress is measured by how well it protects its children.

Every child deserves a childhood.

ለተጎጂዎች ቤተሰቦች ከልብ የመነጨ መፅናናትን እየተመኘን፣ ከህግ ማህበረሰቡ ጎን በፅናት እንቆማለን።

ጉዳዩን በተመለከተ አፋጣኝ እና ጥልቅ ምርመራ እንዲደረግ እንዲሁም የፍትህ ተቋማትን ደህንነት ለማጠናከር አስቸኳይ እርምጃዎች እንዲወሰዱ እንጠይቃለን።

መንግስት የፍትህ ተቋማትን እና ባለሙያዎችን የመጠበቅ ግዴታ አለበት። ፍትህ ሊጠበቅ ይገባል፤ ፍትህን የሚያስከብሩ አካላትም ደህንነታቸው ሊረጋገጥ ይገባል።

HALE – Human Rights and Inclusion Network is deeply saddened and outraged by the tragic killing of Judge Worke Fekansa and another individual at the Holeta Welmera Woreda First Instance Court.

Courts must be places of safety, justice, and the rule of law not violence.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims' families and stand in solidarity with the legal community.

We call for a thorough investigation and urgent measures to strengthen the security of justice institutions.

Justice must be protected, and those who uphold it must be safe.

Despite this, many persons with disabilities continue to face barriers in:

• Healthcare
• Infrastructure
• Public participation

The problem is not disability itself.
The problem is systems that fail to ensure equal inclusion and accessibility.

Protection is not pity.
Protection is not sympathy.
Protection is about:

✔️ Equality
✔️ Inclusion
✔️ Justice

An inclusive society ensures accessibility, equal opportunity, reasonable accommodation, and respect for human dignity.

Governments, institutions, civil society, and individuals all share responsibility to remove barriers and protect equal rights.

As recognized by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, inclusion is not optional; it is both a legal obligation and a moral imperative.
