The Jean-Jacques Rotthier Collection: African & Oceanic Art 🗿
Following the success of the sale of Jean-Jacques Rotthier’s Egyptian antiquities collection, presented on 12 May, which totalled nearly €1.5 million with 100% of lots sold, Artcurial, in partnership with Lempertz, will present this Belgian collector’s African and Oceanic art collection on 8 September, during Parcours des Mondes in Paris.

This funerary ensemble in the name of the lady Iahtesnakht, consigned for sale by the heirs of collector Jean-Jacques Rotthier, this lot stands out for its remarkable integrity and the richness of its decoration.
📜 Its direct connection to a “Book of the Dead” papyrus, now preserved at the University of Cologne, further enhances its historical significance—making this ensemble a rare and well-documented testament to funerary practices of Egypt’s Late Period.

Aujourd’hui confié à la vente par les héritiers du collectionneur Jean-Jacques Rotthier, cet ensemble funéraire au nom d’Iahtesnakht, se distingue par son intégrité remarquable et la richesse de son décor.
📜 Son lien direct avec un papyrus du Livre des Morts conservé à l’Université de Cologne renforce son importance historique, faisant de cet ensemble un témoignage rare et documenté des pratiques funéraires de la Basse Époque.
