WOW what a day!

Up at the crack of dawn to head to Birmingham for the  Women’s Business Growth Initiative breakfast event - and honestly? I so needed this.

Twenty female business owners in one room, all of us sharing our stories, challenges, the messy middle and our hopes and aspirations. Honest, authentic conversations. Pure gold...

One of the HSBC economists, Emma Wilks, shared insights on the recent budget and what it will mean for the UK economy over the next few years. This kind of context, helped to make sense of all the noise in the media.

Then Sara Davies spoke. Yes, that Sara Davies  from Dragons' Den, Crafters Companion and of course Strictly, amongst other things. The energy in the room was already high but Sara lifted it even higher. 

Sara is so down to earth, (plus I could listen to her talk all day with her beautiful Geordie accent) and so relatable with what she shared about juggling motherhood, loving what she does and the real lessons from building a successful business and what she'd do differently. 

Her insights were not what I was expecting and I left feeling lighter about where I am with Engaging Content right now. 

Sara helped to clarify that success means different things to different people, and that's OK. This was refreshing because often we are told and led to believe that we have to be bigger, better, more loud etc. And her thoughts around surrounding yourself with the right people who build you up and don't drain your energy. We all know it!

Some great conversations, connections and follow ups left me leaving on a high. I literally floated out of HSBC and along to my next engagement...

Days like this remind me why getting out from behind my computer matters so much. Working on your business, not just in it. Meeting other heart-led business owners who actually love what they do. This is the fuel that keeps us going.
