Thank you to the Safer by sound crew for sailing with us last week! Everyone had a lovely day.
Spring is just around the corner and our diary is busy already with bookings from Safer by Sound, planning dates with ERA Edinburgh Recovery Activities and the Royal Edinburgh Hospital. We have a volunteer recruitment day coming up in March along with Fountainbridge Canalside Community Trust and All Aboard. More news on that soon. In April, we celebrate Chelsea's success with Scottish Drugs Forum and the National Traineeship programme.
The positive start to the year is reflected in the positive vibe onboard Panacea. Thank you everyone.π₯°

Hello February 2026!
Our Instructor, Mark is supporting new crew members as well as making epic soup! We are seeing some great sailing and crew support from Chelsea, Doug and Alistair. The authentic minestrone soup was very welcome yesterday on what was a very cold day! (authenticity confirmed by Simona π) Grace is delivering focused crafting sessions and we are all looking forward to her famous lentil soup on Monday!
We are planning First Aid training in the spring with Frans as well as a dedicated volunteer information day in March with our partners Fountainbridge Canalside Community Trust / Re-Union Canal Boats and All Aboard/Polwarth Polwarth Parish Church
We celebrated Judy's Birthday yesterday and Simona (University of Edinburgh) is settling in very well supporting us both onboard Panacea and with community outreach sessions.
We welcomed Safer by sound onboard this week and thank you to crew member Jackie for supporting their sail.
A new catering service has opened next to Leamington Lift Bridge. A welcome replacement since the departure of the coffee boat.
The days are getting longer and lighter and Spring is just around the corner.
Thank you everyone for a wonderful start to the year! π₯° πͺπ

It's been a wonderful week of sailing, soup, crafting, online meetings, setting up the Christmas Tree and receiving very welcome funding results from The Robertson Trust, Barcapel Foundation, EVOC and the Thomas Wall Trust. We will highlight the work we will be doing with their support very soon.
We plan to pilot a new online booking system in January as we are now so busy, we want to make sure booking is as simple and straightforward as possible. In addition, new volunteers, Trevor and Alistair, sailed Trevor's boat, Skean-Dhu II, from Auchenstarry to Linlithgow yesterday! What a great achievement! We hope Trevor will be very happy in his new home. I see new RYA Helms in the making!
Jackie and Dougie will be taking part in Leamington Lift Bridge training on Monday with friends at Fountainbridge Canalside Community Trust
However, its also been a bitter sweet week this week as we heard of the passing of our good friend, Simon Jaquet. Director of Simon Jaquet Consultancy Services Ltd. As well as being a well crafted musician and songwriter, Simon has been a youth worker, manager, volunteer, chief executive, and board member. He has worked in the third sector for more than 45 years, including as founder and director of Fast Forward Positive Lifestyles Ltd 1987 - 2001 and Chief Executive of YouthLink Scotland 2001 - 2004. He set up Simon Jaquet Consultancy Services Ltd in 2004. Working at the interface between the third and public sectors, he specialised in research, evaluation, and organisational development. Simon supported our 5 year business plan and feasibility study for Panacea, and introduced us to many people we continue to link with. He sailed with us at the launch with his wife, Caroline. Sincere condolences to all who knew him and loved him. We will miss him. β€οΈ
