AI-Powered Automatic Model Garage Door
I designed this model garage from scratch and 3D printed it myself. My first version was made from laser-cut wood and used an ultrasonic sensor to detect cars.
This latest version uses AI, making it a great project for introducing children to artificial intelligence, computer vision, MicroPython, electronics, 3D design, and engineering.
The system is programmed in MicroPython and has been trained to recognise a particular type of car. When a learned vehicle is detected, the garage door opens automatically. Any other type of car is ignored, keeping the garage securely closed.
The 3D print files, MicroPython code, and a step-by-step build guide will be available for download soon.

Engineering is everywhere! 🦩
Spotted this giant flamingo at Livingston Centre. It's more than art—it's engineering! How is it designed, balanced, and safely installed?
At 123Robot, we inspire young people to see STEM in the world around them.

Windy day with strong gusts, making it the perfect opportunity to learn how to fly a 2-line controlled kite.
We explored:
- How wind speed and gusts affect flight
- Lift, drag and stability
At , we believe STEM learning doesn't only happen indoors.
3D-printed Dino Game using an ESP32, LCD display, push buttons, and MicroPython by Charlie Segetowski (Primary 7 student).
Projects like this help young people develop real-world skills in coding, electronics, 3D design, problem-solving, and engineering while having fun creating something from scratch.
At 123Robot, we don't just teach technology—we empower young innovators to design, build, and invent.
S1 student Olivia designed, built, and programmed this keypad-operated safe entirely from scratch at the 123Robot Maker Lab as her end-of-year project.
