A farewell Evensong was held at Exeter Cathedral on Sunday 5 July to mark the upcoming retirement of the Dean of Exeter, Jonathan Greener, who will officially step down from his role on 31 July.

The service was attended by members of the public alongside the Lord-Lieutenant of Devon, the Lord Mayor of Exeter, the Bishop of Exeter and Exeter Cathedral's College of Canons. Music for the service was provided by Exeter Cathedral Choir.

During Evensong, the Dean preached his final sermon. Short addresses of appreciation were given by Canon Jenny Ellis, the Lord-Lieutenant of Devon and the Rt Revd Dr Mike Harrison, Bishop of Exeter.

To conclude the service, the Bishop presented the Dean with a farewell gift from the community and formally conferred upon Jonathan Greener the style and status of Dean Emeritus.
