Ride On - Cycling For all
19/06/2026
Introducing Amanda — a Ride On Regular.
Amanda came to Ride On after moving to Exeter, introduced to us by her partner Robin. She's since become a familiar face in the workshop, building confidence with her bikes and finding a community she keeps coming back to.
"Riding gives me the freedom of being able to go anywhere. Being able to go outside and ride along the quay or down the estuary to the sea and enjoy all the scenery along the way whilst having time away from technology and 'life' is a huge mental boost and reset. If I'm having a tougher day I can always take my bike out and ride and I always feel better mentally and physically for it."
Her bike is a 2025 Cinelli Vigorelli Steel — built up by the lovely folk at Saddles and Paddles and tinkered with since at home and here at Ride On. It's a serious machine, specced with Paul Components, Chris King, Sugino 75 and Phil Wood throughout.
"My partner Robin encouraged me to build up my own bike and loved it himself along with his many bikes. He's the reason I got into bikes in the first place. Since he passed away I now also ride it in his memory and it feels like a part of him is with me when I'm out on my bike.
I come to Ride On for the community. The space to be able to tinker with my bikes and the collective knowledge that everyone has has been so valuable in helping me learn how to look after my bikes and change out parts with confidence. The skills I've been able to pick up over time are genuinely useful and there is always more to learn — which will always keep me coming back."
