Today's blog is about stepping away from my Engrosser’s Script rabbit hole and going back to where it all began… uncial ✨

With my uncial class coming up this weekend, I wanted to get back to basics before teaching on Sunday. Uncial was the very first script I ever learned, and I always forget how calming it feels until I come back to it.

Instead of writing a single word or short quote (and then over-analysing every stroke 😅), I challenged myself to write a longer passage. It’s such a good reminder that sometimes the magic isn’t in perfection… it’s in the texture and rhythm of the whole piece.

And can we talk about this ink colour?! I’m obsessed. It works so beautifully with both my pointed pen and broad edge.

I recently came across a script called Weaver Script and couldn’t resist trying to figure it out for myself.
There’s something quite magical about seeing a style you’ve never been taught, and instead of looking for rules… you start building them. Observing the shapes, the pressure, the rhythm—and slowly piecing it all together.
This one feels playful, with that gentle undulating line and letterforms that almost weave into each other.
It’s not perfect (and still needs refining), but that’s part of the process—and honestly, part of the joy.
