Some tattoos are beautiful because of the artwork. Others are beautiful because of the story behind them.
I had the privilege of tattooing a symbol that represents a bond unlike any other.
This design is based on the shunt that saved this client’s little boy’s life before he was even born. While he was in the womb, a shunt was placed through mum to drain fluid from Jude to mum, saving her little boy’s life.
The procedure left them with matching scars a permanent reminder of a fight they faced together before he had even entered the world.
Wanting to make sure his son never felt different because of that scar, his dad later chose to carry the same mark himself.
What was once a life saving medical device became something much greater: a symbol of family, sacrifice, resilience, and unconditional love.
Now that story lives on through this tattoo a simple design carrying a lifetime of meaning.
