Topic: Knowing the love of Christ- Part 1: Introduction- Sunday Service 03/12/2023

DAY 2

WE ARE BORN OF GOD…WE WALK IN LOVE JUST LIKE OUR FATHER (2)

Ephesians 5:1-2 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

Observe how the writer explained Christ’s love for us: “…he gave himself for us an offering and a sacrifice…”

He had explained the same truth in earlier paragraphs

Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Now, in his letter to the Romans, he taught them the same truth

Romans 5:6-8 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. Vs 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. Vs 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

In essence, God (our Father) demonstrated his love for us, in the death of Our Lord, and saviour Jesus Christ

In the Four Gospels, John explained that Jesus taught the same truth

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

He taught similarly in his first Epistle
1 John 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

Thus, without an iota of doubt, from the explanations of Jesus and His Apostles (in the Four Gospels and Epistles) our example of walking in love towards others, is God our Father.
This explains why we have instructions in the Four Gospels and the Epistles to walk in love towards others. The following are some examples:
Matthew 5:43-45 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. Vs 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; Vs 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Luke 6:27-28 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Vs 28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
Romans 12:9-10 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Vs 10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

Ephesians 5:1-2 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

Confession: God is my Father, and I am His son. I see Him as my example in my conduct towards others. Just like my Father, I choose to walk in love at all times towards others.
