This Spring we were asked to research links between climate change and human mobility in the Middle East.

🌍 Concerns about climate change and human mobility are evident, but we must consider other crucial factors such as conflict, governance issues, and resource management.

🚨 Despite the alarming situation and the urgent need for action, climate adaptation doesn’t appear to be a priority for many governments. The question remains: how long can we sustain this, and when will we succumb to the weight of our own indifference?

Expectation State is excited to announce Verengai Mabika as our new Partner, Digital. Verengai brings over 16 years of experience at the forefront of digital policy and innovation, making him a perfect fit to lead our digital strategy.

Verengai's background is a powerhouse of expertise. Previously, he served as the Senior Policy Advisor for Africa at the Internet Society. In this role, he tackled critical issues like internet infrastructure, regulations, and privacy, all while fostering strong relationships with governments and regional organizations across Africa. He's also a seasoned leader, having guided cross-functional teams and delivered data-driven solutions that shaped policy and built public trust in internet technology.

His passion extends beyond policy. As the Founder & Director of the Development Reality Institute (DRI Africa), he championed social innovation programs focused on climate change and sustainability. He even co-founded Golix, a company exploring the potential of blockchain technology. This blend of policy acumen and entrepreneurial spirit makes him uniquely qualified to navigate the ever-evolving digital landscape. Verengai's impressive credentials don't stop there. He holds a Master's degree specializing in Internet Governance, and has actively pursued continuous learning through advanced certificates in Artificial Intelligence, 5G, IoT and International project management.

He's also a recognized innovator, having been featured on Quartz's list of Top African Innovators and receiving prestigious awards like the Ashoka Fellowship and the Echoing Green Fellowship.
