Meet our Lead Osteopath | Emanuele Calabrese
"My motto is "Everybody is different and therefore has to be treated differently". For this reason, tailored treatment plans in medicine will always be more effective than those treating a specific diagnosis. For example, the back pain of someone working predominantly at his desk will always be different from the back pain of someone standing up all day.
Also, pain, by definition, is a very subjective sensory experience, which needs to be assessed by understanding the person before analysing the body tissues in pain.
When it comes to recovery therapy, there are also personal preferences to take into account. Someone may be scared of getting into the hyperbaric chamber; someone else may find unpleasant the cracking noise of a joint after spinal manipulation. Research has proven that these preferences can influence the outcomes of the therapy.
If a recovery path is not shaped on the individual needs, chances are that the recovery won't be optimal. Treating the person rather than the problem allows me to plan a bespoke treatment, always considering the bio-psycho-social challenges of their clients."
