FEND is proud to announce that President Anne-Marie Felton has been awarded a distinguished prize of the American Diabetes Association: the Harold Rifkin Award for Distinguished International Service in the Cause of Diabetes.
We are especially delighted that Anne was awarded this prize in the year of the 25th anniversary of FEND, the pan-European organisation of which she has been a driving force and which focusses on the role of diabetes specialist nurses.

The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Diabetes Specialist Nurses in Europe: A pan-European Survey on behalf of FEND
We are clinical academic diabetes nurses from the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care from King’s College London and in collaboration with the Foundation of European Nurses in Diabetes (FEND) we have established a pan European consortium of diabetes nurses to conduct this survey. The aim of the survey is to gauge the impact of COVID-19 on: people with diabetes, diabetes services and diabetes nurses themselves.

May 12th marks the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. Her inspiration continues to inspire nurses throughout the world. We in the Foundation of European Nurses in Diabetes (FEND) join all of you in your celebrations to mark this significant date in the global nursing calendar.
To quote Florence Nightingale:
"For us who nurse, our nursing is a thing, which, unless we are making progress every year, month and week, take my word for it we are going backwards".
