AFK - Working With Disability
AFK (formerly Action For Kids) is a national charity that supports and empowers disabled children an
🌸 Spring reminds us that growth takes time, and every journey is different.
Just like flowers bloom in their own way, every disabled or neurodivergent young person we support needs something unique. There is no one-size-fits-all.
That is why AFK takes a personalised approach. We get to know each young person, understand what matters to them, and provide the right support for their journey to independence.
Meet Ivy
Six-year-old Ivy from Brighton has spina bifida and recently had hip reconstruction surgery. After three months in a cast, she needed equipment to rebuild her strength. But just as importantly, she wanted to play with her friends again.
Our Mobility team did not just find a trike. They sourced the right trike for Ivy’s needs. One that supports her rehabilitation and gives her the freedom to:
• Ride around her cul-de-sac with friends
• Cycle to see the horses she loves 🐴
• Explore the beach near her home 🏖️
It even arrived in sparkle pink, her favourite colour 💖
For every £1 we spent on Ivy’s trike, we secured an extra 25p from other funders, helping her family get the full support they needed.
That is the AFK difference.
