Introducing "Chillies for sambal" linocut on Awagami Kozo paper. This linocut is for . The theme this year is 'Food growing and gardening' where the proceeds from these prints will go towards Trussell Trust, which supports people in poverty, and Edible Rotherhithe, a community food growing project in London.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Food connects me to my home, and being in the UK, sometimes it is a little hard to source certain foods. I like to dabble in gardening, although I don't have the highest of success rates (read: very hit and miss), but the activity of growing and gardening is extremely rewarding. And the very effort of growing these ingredients and trying to make dishes from home brings me closer to my family (mainly as they try to give me endless growing tips and laugh at my wonky vegetable harvest.) For the first time last year, I made my own sambal from the few chilli plants that I grew. This year I plan to grow and make a much bigger batch as it went far too quickly!
