🌍 Bangladesh’s First Digital Product Passport (DPP) Awareness Seminar Charts a Path Towards EU Compliance!

On 11 August 2025, DigiProd Pass Ltd. was honoured to co-host an event titled “Forum for EU Trade: Spotlight on Digital Product Passport”, organised by the Ministry of Commerce (Export Wing), the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, supported by GIZ Bangladesh, in technical partnership with Digital Architect Ltd.

The event, the first of its kind in Bangladesh, brought together over 100 influential stakeholders from the government, industry associations, global brands, and technology providers. The focus was on how Bangladesh’s export industries, particularly the ready-made garment (RMG) sector, can prepare for upcoming EU sustainability and traceability regulations, including the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and the Digital Product Passport (DPP), a core element of the EU Green Deal.

The session commenced with a warm welcome from Dr Michael Klode, Head of Project, STILE-II, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, followed by an introduction from Salauddin Sohag, Managing Director of DigiProd Pass Ltd.

- Need for clear industry requirements to guide coordinated policy and regulatory support.

For Bangladesh’s RMG sector, this was more than an awareness seminar. It marked the beginning of a coordinated movement to adopt Digital Product Passport technology, strengthen brand trust, and create new opportunities for sustainable, transparent, and circular supply chains.

DigiProd Pass Ltd. signs MoU with BGMEA to pilot Digital Product Passports in Bangladesh’s garment sector!

In a significant move to strengthen sustainability and supply chain transparency, DigiProd Pass Ltd. and Digital Architect, a local technology partner, have signed an MoU with BGMEA to launch a 24-month pilot for implementing blockchain-enabled Digital Product Passports (DPPs) in Bangladesh’s garment industry.

With nearly 60% of Bangladesh’s apparel exports headed to the EU, this pilot marks a crucial step toward EU market readiness, aligning with the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), which mandates DPPs from 2026 onward.

The project will assess the technical feasibility of DPPs, improve lifecycle traceability, and support local manufacturers in meeting evolving European Union sustainability standards.
