Healthy Food Shouldn't Cost the Earth... and neither should getting it onto people's plates.

At Tees Valley Together, we have always been about avoiding food waste and making sure people have access to healthy food at affordable prices so when we were asked to join this project, we jumped at the chance to.

HP2 isn't just about creating healthy meals, it's about thinking differently about our food system. By making use of community food infrastructure and local partnerships, we're exploring how healthier and more sustainable ways of accessing food can work in practice.

Thanks to faresharenortheast Middlesbrough Environment City and all of the partners involved, these community-designed meals are now reaching the people they were created for.

Funded by School for Public Health Research (SPHR), this project brings together Teesside University, uniofexeter, Lancaster University, unibirmingham , Centre for Translational Research in Public Health,
, , Council and , Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust.

Together we're showing that healthier food systems can also be more sustainable.

We are incredibly proud to share that Tees Valley Together has been nominated for a BBC Radio Tees Make a Difference Award in the Community Group category.

Reading the nomination was a real reminder of how far we’ve come since starting during the first COVID lockdown in 2020.

While we can’t share the full nomination, this part meant so much to us:

This recognition belongs to everyone who has been part of our journey – our volunteers, staff, trustees, funders, partners and residents.
