Rustic Roots Carpentry

A Service in Remembrance of the 132nd Anniversary of the Albion Colliery Disaster will be held at 1pm on Sunday, June 21.
The Service is being held at the War Memorial, Cilfynydd Common by the Albion Colliery Memorial Group.

On June 23rd 1884 there was a massive explosion at the Albion Colliery in which 290 men and boys along with 23 horses were killed.
Many of those who died were from North and West Wales who were lodging in the village while working to bring their families to Cilfynydd.
The Memorial Group members are continuing to raise awareness of the Disaster and raise funds aimed at honouring all those who lost their lives in the Colliery by recording their names on commemorative plaques at the site of the Memorial Dram.

Group chairman Plaid Cymru councillor Hywel Gronow said:” The Albion disaster was a tragic event for Cilfynydd which must never be forgotten.
“ This village,which we are proud to call home, was built on the foundation of the miners.”
Participating in the Service, which will include a two minutes silence will be David Crudge from the Buela Baptish Church, Cilfynydd, Councillor Gronow along with Group members Mike Jones and John Jones.
The Albion Colliery Memorial Group always appreciate any support given and all are welcome to attend the service."
