I frequently agonise over my mother’s habit of writing my/my partner’s/my children’s name in a book that she is giving as a gift and genuinely don’t know how she brings herself to do so. Yesterday I was turfing out some Pelicans so that we can clear some more bookshelves and came across a keeper. Nowt terribly special and someone got there first with their initials but then my brother had taken a red pen to it - it’s not going anywhere and it was used when I did my history degree....
