It's and we'd like to give a big shout out to all of the volunteers working so hard to help children, young people and their families across NHS Lothian. Christine (pictured here on the left) is one of our welcome team at the in Edinburgh, greeting children and families as they arrive, helping with directions, giving out masks or sanitiser where it's needed and generally being friendly and fabulous!
A retired primary teacher, Christine has also volunteered on the Haematology and Oncology wards as a play leader, before rejoining the old 'Sick Kids' in January this year and transferring to the brand new RHCYP in March. Christine told us:
"I love the personal contact with the patients (young and old) and their relatives. I hope that by having a little chat with them as we go to wherever , I am able to provide a reassuring welcome and a little break before whatever appointment they are attending. I also love how the time just whizzes by! "
Thank you to Christine and our whole team of welcoming at all of our hospitals. You do an amazing job! π
