Introducing Online Yin Yoga Classes in January 2022!

These have been a success over the last few months, and I am pleased to be continuing the classes into the New Year.

A bit about Yin Yoga...
Yin Yoga is a deeply relaxing practice in which we work on letting go of tension in muscles, and softening the body into gentle, deep stretches. Rather than working muscles, Yin Yoga strengthens and mobilises joints and bone tissue. We use props in order to hold our bodies in the shapes, and every pose can be adapted to fit all bodies of all mobility. It is a wonderful complement to a more dynamic, strong yoga practice (in which muscles are strengthened), as here the focus is elsewhere - the muscles can rest and recover, and flexibility, mobility and suppleness can be built in the joints. Unlike in a dynamic yoga practice, in Yin Yoga poses are held gently for a few minutes, rather than a few breaths.

As with most yoga practice, Yin yoga is also a deeply calming practice for the mind. With a focus on breath, and an emphasis on tuning into all of the sensations in the body moment by moment, becoming present to the here and now, Yin Yoga is a wonderful release from the stresses and busy-ness of daily life. The perfect opportunity just to slow down, to check-in with yourself, and to let go, even if just for the hour, of whatever else might be happening at that time.

The poses are simple and accessible to all.

Please do consider giving it a go in the New Year! It is a wonderful compliment to a more dynamic Power, Vinyasa or Beginner's Flow Practice. :)

FREE Online Yoga Nidra Class - Tuesday 19th October, 7:45 - 8:15pm

Yoga Nidra (or 'Yogic Sleep') is a deeply relaxing practice which actually has more similarities to meditation than to a physical yoga class. It is usually practised lying down in a comfortable position, and all you need to do is listen to my voice as you are guided into the state between waking and dreaming.
It is extremely restful and is increasingly recognised for its benefits which include, but are not limited to:
* Reduced worry and stress,
* Improved sleep,
* Increased self-awareness and creativity,
* Improved memory.

If you'd like to know more, please take a look at my recent blog article (https://roottorise.co.uk/blog.html), which explains some ways in which Yoga Nidra can help with stress reduction. I would certainly recommend giving it a go to experience some of these benefits for yourself!

Please do consider joining me for this free taster session on Tuesday to see what this practice is all about! There is no effort required - all you need to do is to make yourself comfortable lying down (cushions, pillows, even pyjamas welcome!) and then let my voice guide you into a state of, what should be, deep rest and relaxation.

Please go to www.roottorise.co.uk and book using the code NIDRA19, or email [email protected] to sign up and receive your Zoom link. I would love to see you there!
