I have not fully explained my personal reasons to keep the Ruby Dawn name. So here goes: Carola is a difficult name to pronounce, introduce, spell and remember. Ruby Dawn was the name I chose in 2020, as the concept for the band I wanted to form, it would be my band identity. The imagery I imagined, was of an atom bomb mushroom rising depicting our beautiful Earth about to lie in waste for our folly. With a ruby dawn, it’s a warning, but still lies hope. I have been writing lyrics almost my whole life, and every single word I utter in the songs I write, is chosen carefully meticulously almost, deliberately to tell the story of us. This has always been my mission as a musician. To remind the world to care, to feel, to change! My words and lyrics are open to many interpretations, I do this intentionally. I reveal emotions within the human journey . Alice come Home, is not based on wonderland but the sheer emotion of how it feels to be in this crazy place and the desire to be somewhere safer. Juliet is not a Shakespeare play, rather Juliet represents Paradise light hope but ruined by endless war mongering; like we do on this earth. Easy Feels is social classes and elite exploitation easy deals, as is Run Rabbit. I do not write about topics events, or relationships with men . I write conceptually. Therefore Ruby Dawn was the perfect name for my songs where my lyrics could echo the warning we need to do better personally and globally. I would like to keep the name ideally because the Ruby Dawn dream and concept begun long before the previous set of boys came along .
Finally
I did not disappear both albums of former Ruby Dawn line up (Blood on Water and Beyond Tomorrow)and do not have the know-how or emotional strength to figure out how to reinstate them at this point in my life. We had hundreds of monthly listeners and the albums it seemed meant a lot to others. The act only hurt the listeners. If the lads want to be remembered for their talents then they can reinstate the tunes they took down .

As for me Carola the name no one can pronounce remember or spell , I intend to continue writing playing and recording the songs as Ruby Dawn, and I do hope to perform them live again one day.
In the mean time my second new release from my upcoming album Connect is available https://carola1.bandcamp.com/track/connect.

Connect is the second release from my upcoming album. It’s available on Bandcamp now. An evolving pattern in this new material, seems to be the slow build to explosive middle and end, where the mood and vibe of the songs shift intensity, and take the listener to an emotional peak. Might be a reflection of current times. It’s a perfect follow up to Free me Beast, and gives a clear understanding of what this new album might be.

I recorded this in my home studio. A beat, then keys, voices, and other instrumentation. This I sent to Caroline Bonnett to work remotely, and she simply transforms it all to an amazingly powerful song, by adding proper drums and bass, as well as other rhythmic instrumentation, production mixing and mastering. Also features the amazing Nick Fletcher who was able to add the finishing touches with his fine wonderfully apt lead guitar playing. It’s an incredible song with a deeply powerful end, worth listening through .

So what’s going with the music of Ruby Dawn? My 1st release Free me Beast is out on Bandcamp and coming soon to other streaming platforms. I am continuing recording the tracks for the new album I have written and getting help from producer Caroline Bonnett and guitarist Nick Fletcher. We’re about to release a second track called Connect which is the title track of the new album. Look out for Nick Fletchers magnificent lead contributions on this next one, superb!
I’m playing Wokingham Pride July 11th and then the Facebar Reading October 4th with Kindred Spirit and Dandelion Charm. . That’s about it unless something else comes up. I can be available for solo opener slots and cancellations.

I really want to focus on releasing this new album and then hopefully, re form the band with a more positive line who can focus on contributing and furthering the music and songs of Ruby Dawn both new old and to be. I’m still getting fan mail from music I produced 36 years ago. So reminder to me again to focus on those who are supportive and kind.

Not many people have heard me play piano live, but seriously, I can play an instrument, and I play a number of them! Not just a voice, I am a songwriter and musician. This will become more evident when my first solo released song: Free me Beast hopefully goes live tomorrow . Apologies for poor audio getting a new phone soon.
