As headshots go, this is one of my favourites….
Your £15 ticket makes this music possible.
This Sunday, Kimichi Symphony Orchestra returns to Symphony Hall with a programme we’re incredibly proud of, a Richard Strauss spectacular that promises to thrill, surprise, and inspire.
As an organisation run entirely by volunteers, everything we do is driven by a shared belief: that great music should reach new audiences, and that an amateur orchestra can push far beyond expectations. Last year’s Stravinsky ballet project, with live dancers, showed just how powerful that vision can be.
This concert continues that journey. Alongside Strauss’s extraordinary music, we’re breaking boundaries once again by collaborating with dancers from the Sujata Banerjee Dance Company, bringing together different traditions in one vibrant performance.
If you’ve been thinking about coming, this is the moment. Buying a ticket doesn’t just secure you an unforgettable afternoon, it actively supports the musicians, the dancers, and the volunteers working to make ambitious, inclusive performances like this possible.
Come and be part of it. We promise you’ll leave exhilarated.
Tickets available now, we’d love to see you there.

From this epic adventure last year to another this year….
The orchestra is sounding absolutely fantastic: so responsive and really understanding of the music.
Can’t wait to conduct them in this brilliant but demanding programme 🎉

On the Symphony Hall podium next Sunday: Keith Slade
Keith began his musical journey on the clarinet at the age of ten and went on to reach the final of the BBC Young Musician of the Year Woodwind Category. A graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music and a postgraduate scholar at the Royal Academy of Music, Keith has built a distinguished career as both an orchestral musician and conductor. He has led ensembles across the UK and internationally, working with artists including James MacMillan, Mark Padmore and Roderick Williams.
Commenting on this Sunday's concert, Keith said:
"To say conducting Strauss is a life's work would be an understatement. Till Eulenspiegels bursts with mischief and razor sharp wit, painting the escapades of the legendary prankster in brilliant orchestral colour. Death and Transfiguration turns inward, tracing a final struggle, a moment of release and a luminous transformation beyond, one of Strauss's most moving and deeply human scores. Finally, Ein Heldenleben is a sweeping musical self portrait that ranges from conflict and tenderness to triumph, showcasing the orchestra at full power and full nuance.
"Having the opportunity to rehearse these mighty works with an exceptional orchestra such as KSO has been glorious and I can't wait for us to perform these remarkable works on Sunday 22 March in Symphony Hall."
