We've got a real rarity in the office today, courtesy of RepairRestoreRecycle: a mid-1970s Hermann Sewerin Ferrophon Pipe and Cable Locating Kit.

This kit was used around Wrexham when British Gas moved from coal gas to natural gas. When the company updated their detection equipment, some employees decided to continue using these old kits because they apparently worked better.

This particular set was purchased by an employee here at CIG who has preserved it in its original configuration. In his words: "I didn't want to see it split up and sold as 'shelf art' or a vintage toolbox".
