‼️ Severe Weather Possible Monday ‼️

A strong cold front will move into our area Monday. As this front approaches, a line of strong storms is likely to cross through the Augusta area and the rest of the CSRA. This line should affect the Augusta-Aiken metro area sometime between 8 a.m. and 12 noon, with the most likely time frame looking to be 9-11 a.m. Rain will likely occur before and after this line, but that is the window for severe weather.

Threats include damaging wind gusts (most likely of the possible severe impacts), tornadoes, and hail.

I expect this line to gain strength as soon as it moves east of our area. It will not be a good day for much of the Carolinas and Virginia.

Along with the severe weather, a sudden change in temperature will occur Monday afternoon after the severe threat has ended as temperatures fall into the 50s with wind gusts up to 40 mph. This will make it feel like the 30s at times by late afternoon.

How you can prepare:
➡️ Charge electronic devices overnight. If you have a weather radio, make sure it's working properly.
➡️ Move loose outdoor objects to safe spots so they don't get blown away.
➡️ Plan your travel to work or school accordingly.
➡️ If you are under a tornado warning, move to the lowest, most interior space in your home, workplace, school, etc. until the all-clear has been given.
