Hundreds of Nigerians on Monday defied a Federal High Court order to protest along Abuja’s streets, demanding the release of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. Protesters are chanting ‘Free Nnamdi Kanu’ as they march on a day commemorating the 5th anniversary of the infamous protest. Kanu has been in detention since 2021 when he was extradited from Kenya. He is currently facing terrorism charges. This morning’s march comes amid warnings from the Nigeria police that it will deal decisively with individuals who protest around the official residence of the president of Nigeria, A*o Rock Villa. Local media reports say police fired tear gas and live bullets to disperse the gathering protesters while arresting Kanu’s lawyer.
POLICE ARREST SUSPECT FOR IMPERSONATING A POLICE OFFICER
The National Operations Directorate (NOD) Surveillance Unit, of the Ghana Police Service has arrested a 32-year-old man, Akoto Nelson, for posing as a police officer during a public event at the Black Star Square in Accra.
The suspect was arrested on Sunday, 19th October 2025, by a team of officers deployed to provide security at a musical concert. The team observed the suspect dressed in a police uniform with the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) behaving suspiciously. Upon interrogation, he admitted that he was not a police officer.
Investigations revealed that the suspect impersonated a police officer to gain free entry to the event, claiming he did not have money to pay the entry fee. He further disclosed that the uniform belonged to a deceased Chief Inspector, identified as Gyasi, from whom he obtained the police accoutrements in 2022.
A subsequent search conducted at his residence in Taifa-Ashaiman uncovered several items which were retained as exhibits. These include one toy P99 pistol, one pepper spray, two ZTE mini handsets, one pepper spray pouch, one ZTE charger, one Xinfa cutter knife, some complimentary cards, one voter ID in the name of Akoto Nelson Elikem, and one birth certificate in the name of Nelson Akoto.
Preliminary investigations further established that the suspect works as a security guard and a messenger at a private company. He remains in police custody and will be put before the court.

These female skateboarders are shredding stereotypes in Ethiopia.
Edomawit Ashebir tries to block out the haters.
Every time she grabs her skateboard and goes out in public, the young Ethiopian knows she might hear some rude comments.
“My mom empowers me, but people in the street are against it,” Ashebir told documentary photographer Chantal Pinzi. “There’s a guy talking sh*t: ‘You’re an idiot. You’re causing problems for your family. You’ll never achieve anything in life. You’re a girl. What are you doing on the street?’ ”
Remarks like these aren’t uncommon when Ashebir and other members of her all-female skateboarding group go out in the Ethiopian capital.
But they won’t be deterred. They have the support of a growing skate community in the country.
And most of all, they have each other CNN.com logo. Makdelina Desta, one of the founders of the group known as Addis Girls Skate, hangs out with her friends in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Remarks like these aren’t uncommon when Ashebir and other members of her all-female skateboarding group go out in the Ethiopian capital.
But they won’t be deterred. They have the support of a growing skate community in the country.
And most of all, they have each other.
A member of Addis Girls Skate performs an ollie.
Ethiopia is rebuilding after a devastating civil war that ended in 2022. The capital, Addis Ababa, is changing at a rapid pace, Pinzi says, with new skyscrapers and infrastructure transforming the city skyline.
But inequalities remain and there are still deeply rooted patriarchal expectations and gender roles. “In the public space, it’s still really rare to see women,” said Pinzi, who visited the African country earlier this year.
So when Ashebir and her friends grab their skateboards, there’s a much deeper significance.
“The new generation, they don’t see skateboarding only as a sport. They also see it as a place of equality and freedom,” Pinzi said. Makdelina Desta is one of the founders of the group known as Addis Girls Skate. She told Pinzi that, to her, skating basically means freedom.
“As a girl, you carry so much responsibility. You can’t just be with your friends without worrying about something,” she said. “But when I skate, I’m not pretending to be someone else. That’s when I’m truly myself. I don’t feel judged.
“At the skate park, we all share the same mindset, even though we come from different places and have different stories. We inspire each other, and that makes me feel free.”
Those feelings are echoed by Ashebir.
“When I skate, I forget all the problems at home,” she said. “I don’t feel the pressure from my parents anymore. It’s a way for me to feel free and escape everything.
An Israeli military official claimed that Hamas terrorists attacked Israeli soldiers in Rafah with an RPG and sniper fire, labeling the actions “a blatant violation” of the ceasefire agreement.
“Earlier today, terrorists fired an anti-tank missile and gunfire toward IDF troops operating to dismantle terrorist infrastructure in the Rafah area, in southern Gaza, in accordance with the ceasefire agreement,” an Israeli military official told Fox News.
“In response, the IDF has begun striking in the area to eliminate the threat and dismantle tunnel shafts and military structures used for terrorist activity.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly held talks with security officials and directed the IDF to conduct “strong action” against any violations of the ceasefire agreement in place.
Meanwhile, Hamas issued a statement claiming that it has no knowledge of any attacks carried out in the Rafah area.
“We reaffirm our full commitment to implement everything that was agreed upon, foremost of which is a ceasefire across all areas of the Gaza Strip,” the Ezzadine Al-Qassam Brigades announced in a statement.
“We have no knowledge of any incidents or clashes taking place in the Rafah area, as these are red zones under the occupation’s control, and contact with the remaining groups of ours there has been cut off since the war resumed in March of this year.”
The incident followed an announcement the U.S. Department of State made on Saturday in response to reports of Hamas members executing Palestinians accused of collaborating with Israel.
“This planned attack against Palestinian civilians would constitute a direct and grave violation of the ceasefire agreement and undermine the significant progress achieved through mediation efforts,” the State Department wrote. “The guarantors demand Hamas uphold its obligations under the ceasefire terms.”
The United States and the other guarantors remain resolute in our commitment to ensuring the safety of civilians, maintaining calm on the ground and advancing peace and prosperity for the people of Gaza and the region as a whole,” the statement concluded.
Hamas confirmed the attack on a “hideout” of an Israeli-backed militia. Netanyahu previously confirmed in June that he greenlit a covert operation to arm local groups in an attempt to counter Hamas.
Additionally, Israel announced that the Rafah border crossing would remain closed “until further notice.” Netanyahu’s office issued a statement revealing that the reopening of the crossing depends on Hamas’s ability to fulfill its obligation to return the remains of the deceased hostages still in Gaza.
Should the fragile ceasefire hold, the next stage includes the disarmament of Hamas as well as another round of Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.
Santos was serving a seven-year sentence on charges of wire fraud and aggravated identity theft in New Jersey, which previously led to his expulsion from Congress in 2023.
Santos previously admitted to utilizing campaign funds for personal expenses, lying about his wealth while collecting unemployment, and stealing from political donors.
President Trump issued the commutation for Santos’s sentence on Friday, along with a Truth Social post detailing the decision.
“George Santos was somewhat of a ‘rogue,’ but there are many rogues throughout our Country that aren’t forced to serve seven years in prison,” Trump wrote, going on to state that Santos “had the Courage, Conviction, and Intelligence to ALWAYS VOTE REPUBLICAN.”
George has been in solitary confinement for long stretches of time and, by all accounts, has been horribly mistreated. Therefore, I just signed a Commutation, releasing George Santos from prison, IMMEDIATELY. Good luck George, have a great life!” Trump concluded.
In response to his sentence being commuted, Santos thanked President Trump for a “true second chance at life. A chance to grow, to change, and to walk a better path,” in an X post on Saturday.
“First and foremost, I want to thank our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for never abandoning me. I’m far from perfect. I’ve made mistakes, I’ve stumbled, but I never lost faith in Him. His grace carried me when I couldn’t carry myself, and for that, I am eternally grateful,” Santos wrote.
“I also want to express my deepest gratitude to President Donald J. Trump. Earlier today, I had the honor of speaking with him personally, a conversation I will never forget. In that moment, I saw not only the strength of a great leader, but the heart of a man who believes in mercy, in redemption, and in the promise that America gives everyone, the promise of a second chance.”
from grace can take away the possibility of renewal. His faith in second chances reignited my own, and for that, I will be forever thankful,” he added.
Santos also announced his intention to focus on “prison reform and accountability” after being inspired by “President Trump’s work toward peace in the Middle East.”
“Inspired by President Trump’s work toward peace in the Middle East, I am dedicating myself to doing good, to building bridges instead of walls. My focus will be on prison reform and accountability, ensuring that those in power uphold the dignity and humanity of every person in their care. No one should ever be dehumanized or degraded like I was by the FCI Fariton Warden Kelly and Assistant Warden Nobile.
“As I step into this next chapter of my life, I do so with lessons learned and eyes open. I do not carry shame, I carry purpose. My goal now is to turn my past into something meaningful, to help create a justice system that truly believes in rehabilitation and second chances. Yes, I am back but I am back as a new man, ready to work and do good,” he added.
President Donald Trump announced an end to providing Colombia with foreign aid and subsidies after alleging that the Colombian government is “encouraging” the mass production of illicit substances.
On Sunday, President Trump slammed Colombian President Gustavo Petro, alleging that he is an “illegal drug dealer” in a Truth Social post while also announcing the end of foreign aid to Colombia.
“President Gustavo Petro, of Colombia, is an illegal drug dealer strongly encouraging the massive production of drugs, in big and small fields, all over Colombia. It has become the biggest business in Colombia, by far, and Petro does nothing to stop it, despite large scale payments and subsidies from the USA that are nothing more than a long term rip off of America,” Trump wrote.
“AS OF TODAY, THESE PAYMENTS, OR ANY OTHER FORM OF PAYMENT, OR SUBSIDIES, WILL NO LONGER BE MADE TO COLOMBIA.”
The president went on to explain that Colombia’s major drug production industry amounts to the “sale of massive amounts of product into the United States, causing death, destruction, and havoc.”
President Trump concluded by threatening Maduro, ordering him to shut down the drug production industry in Colombia, “or the United States will close them up for him, and it won’t be done nicely.”
Meanwhile, Petro accused the United States of murdering a fisherman in a September air strike, which U.S. officials claimed was an attack on “confirmed narco terrorists.”
“US government officials have committed a murder and violated our sovereignty in territorial waters. Fisherman Alejandro Carranza had no ties to the drug trade and his daily activity was fishing. The Colombian boat was adrift and had its distress signal up due to an engine failure. We await explanations from the US government,” Petro wrote on Saturday in an X post.
that the strike was targeting “positively identified, extraordinarily violent drug trafficking cartels and narcoterrorists in the SOUTHCOM area of responsibility.”
Additionally, following Trump’s Sunday announcement, War Secretary Pete Hegseth announced an additional U.S. strike in South American waters, claiming that the target was a vessel associated with the National Liberation Army, a Colombian rebel group, which was carrying “substantial amounts of narcotics.”
President Trump’s strong action against Petro follows his announcement of CIA operations within Venezuela, as the Trump administration seeks to aggressively attack major drug production operations in South America.

THREE ARRESTED FOR SHOOTING INCIDENT AND TRESPASSING AT CELEBRITY GOLF CLUB, SAKUMONO
🚨 Sylvester Stallone’s wife just said what every sane parent is thinking — and Hollywood won’t like it.
On The Katie Miller Podcast, she called out the entertainment industry’s bizarre trend of celebrity families suddenly having “transgender” kids:
“Hollywood is all about expression. If you feel like a cat today, you’re a cat. But these kids are not our accessories. They’re little human beings that need structure.”
Katie Miller: "Why do you think it is that so many kids in Hollywood now, and kids of, you know, celebrity parents, are transgender? Is there something in the water in Hollywood or..."
Sylvester Stallone’s wife: "I just think Hollywood is a, you know, it's all about expression. So, you know, however you want to express yourself. So if you feel like a cat today, you're a cat. And it's so loosey-goosey, I don't think that we're really understanding that these kids are not our accessories. They're little human beings that need structure. And structure is really important for them because it helps their brain organize everything.
And I think growing up in a Hollywood home, there is really no structure because you've got this thing going, and you've got private planes, and you've got all these giant homes with chefs and secretaries and assistants and, you know, housekeepers, like nannies. And there's just too much of everything. It gets really confusing for a young little person.
And it's okay what you decide to be as an adult, but raise them just with good common sense. I mean, my daughters were all tomboys. They preferred to wear pants than dresses, you know, and they loved sports. But I never said, "Oh, you're a boy now." I just said, "You love to play sports, you love to hang out with boys, that's awesome.""
US-China trade dispute over a little-known Dutch chipmaker could halt car production and send prices higher. Employees of Nexperia walk through the semiconductor manufacturer's clean rooms in Hamburg, Germany.
Employees of Nexperia walk through the.
Few car buyers have heard of Nexperia. But this Dutch company makes chips that are essential for making cars — and now, it’s at the center of a trade dispute that could shutter global auto plants and send already-record-level car prices even higher.
The dispute is just one part of wider trade tensions between the United States and China. The Nexperia saga began in earnest this past December when the US Commerce Department put Nexperia’s parent company, China-based Wingtech Technologies, on a list of companies facing trade restrictions.
Then, this October, China’s Ministry of Commerce banned Nexperia China and its subcontractors from exporting specific finished components and sub-assemblies manufactured in China. The Dutch government took control of Nexperia following this move.
The tensions have prompted concerns of possible auto plant shutdowns, since the chips Nexperia makes are critical to the assembly of the cars and trucks in which they’re installed. The fear is that the trade dispute could halt Nexperia’s production of the chips, and it would be difficult to replace them.
When and if auto plants might be forced to halt operations is not clear. But a similar chip shortage following the pandemic caused temporary plant shutdowns and the supply of new autos to drop significantly for more than a year. That shortage in turn helped drive up the price of both new and used cars.
Vehicles have become more dependent on computer chips, transistors and diodes on everything from adjusting driver’s seats to feeding the proper amount of fuel into engines and providing braking power. Vehicles can’t be completed if those critical components are unavailable.
While Nexperia is little known outside the industry, its site says the company has more than 6,000 products qualified for use in automobiles, and shipments of 110 billion of its products annually. It has 12,500 employees across Europe, Asia and the United States. It said it’s working on business continuity plans and is “confident that a solution will be found.”
But automaker trade groups are less confident and have sounded the alarm of possible auto plant shutdowns.
“If the shipment of automotive chips doesn’t resume – quickly – it’s going to disrupt auto production in the U.S. and many other countries and have a spillover effect in other industries,” John Bozzella, CEO of the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, a lobbying group for most major automakers, said in a statement. “It’s that significant. We’re urging a quick resolution, so U.S. and global automaking remains on track.”
The European Automobile Manufacturers Association said it would take months to get new supplies of the components its members have been getting from Nexperia, while the supply of its chips is expected to last only weeks.
“Automakers have taken steps over the last years to diversify supply chains but risk cannot be mitigated down to zero. This is a cross-industry issue affecting a large number of suppliers and virtually all of our members,” Sigrid de Vries, director general of the European associations, said in a statement.
“We suddenly find ourselves in this alarming situation,” she added. We really need quick and pragmatic solutions from all countries involved.”
Nexperia make about 40% of the automotive chips in the segment of the market that includes transistors and diodes, according to Ian Riches, vice president of the global automotive practice for research firm TechInsights.
Automakers are already being forced to deal with increased costs due to tariffs being imposed by the Trump administration. While many are absorbing the costs so far, Kelley Blue Book came out with an estimate last week that the average US new car price just topped $50,000 for the first time.
A man convicted of killing four members of a Phoenix family over 30 years ago in an act of revenge over stolen goods was put to death Friday in Arizona’s second ex*****on of the year.
Richard Kenneth Djerf, 55, died by lethal injection for the killings of Albert Luna Sr. and Patricia Luna; their daughter Rochelle Luna, 18; and son Damien Luna, 5, at their home on Sept. 14, 1993. Djerf, who was in prison for over 29 years, chose not to seek clemency.
His ex*****on was the fourth in the country this week and the 39th of the year.
Those four innocent victims deserve justice, and their loved ones deserve closure,” said Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, whose office sought the ex*****on.
Prosecutors said Djerf blamed another family member, Albert Luna Jr., who did not witness the killings, for an earlier theft of electronics and a gun from his apartment. Djerf became obsessed with exacting revenge and went to the home months later claiming to be delivering flowers, prosecutors said.
Authorities say Djerf sexually assaulted Rochelle Luna and slashed her throat; beat Albert Luna Sr. with an aluminum baseball bat then stabbed and shot him; and tied Patricia and Damien Luna to kitchen chairs before fatally shooting them.

It took about 10 minutes for the ex*****on team to insert the IV lines into his veins so the drugs could be administered. After the first of two pentobarbital shots were given, he made several sounds, including a grunt and puffing sound.
